Punk's good on the mic because of his conviction. Most in the back dont have it on the mic. And When he shoots straight to the point and doesn't wander or ramble he's money. with Bret and Cena, contract signing with Vince, early interactions with Trips, the promo recently at the Slammys

Threadstarter needs to start watching wrestling again and see what his peers are doing on the mic. Punk is a lot more polished than 98% of the roster and can adapt on the fly without coming across as forced or awkward. If Punk isn't good, then what does that make the rest of the roster?

I was never high on his SES stuff, always thought that was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated. Not going to lie though, I liked the shoot promo and I liked his commentary run on NXT while he was injured. If he's going to be a face again THAT is the persona he needs to adopt. This latest heel run started off as kinda meh, but once he began to increase the intensity towards the end of the year, son the Rock and carry the Taker feud I became a believer. Dude has a lot to offer.

He's a quick thinker and can come up with excellent retorts, but I find his actual promos to be very boring and a chore to sit through.

I think it depends on the person he's vs . Too many people have no mic skills so unless he's vs Cena rock or someone who can promo he has to do the heavy lifting

Interacting with Bryan raised her profile. Not CM Punk. She pushed Bryan and Punk into tables to end Raw and the entire crowd chanted YES. Get fukking real. If anyone pushed Steve Austin through a table was a top face, they're getting BOOED out. If they pushed the Rock through a table after his initial face turn, they're getting shytTED on.

CM Punk has never been better than Daniel Bryan his whole career. His whole gimmick is a fake rehash of some of his ROH work with Daniel Bryan's Best in the World run. Long title reign where he beat any and everyone and the crowd got behind him as a heel because he was haviing 45 minute matches against the best workers on earth and still looked better.

Nahh. I visit other wrestling forums and most people were angry about HHH's lack of reaction or anger towards anything Punk was saying. I think you misread my post. I never said he was a God on the mic. Let me break it down...

CM Punk is a good all-around promo worker (able to hold a crowd, elicit responses, adlib/adapt on the fly, etc.). Compare that to the 95% of the roster that either can't cut a promo without coming off as forced, botches/forgets their lines, or bores the audience to tears, that makes CM Punk look even better.

IMO Paul Heyman needs to be hired to a full time gig and teach the 95% of the roster how to cut a promo that grabs and holds the audiences attention.

Really? That gimmick was given to him and he did the best he could with it. I guarantee you that if CM Punk was assigned a gimmick that wasn't natural to who he was he would tank completely. He's gotten every break in the book from what I can tell. "Hey, go be straight edge - oh okay cool - I already am". "Eh, that shyt's not working, here is the mic - go break kayfabe since you can't be a draw by having a character, just do what every teenage wrestling fan with a youtube account and a webcam does - cool, gotcha." When Steve Austin took creative control into his own hands he molded himself into a superstar. On the other hand, when CM Punk was GIVEN creative control he resorted to doing cheap shyt to get himself over and even then he could never get himself 1/1000 of the popularity that Stone Cold held in his prime. Tell me this, has CM Punk ever come up with any interesting or original idea that didn't involve him shooting on the politics backstage?

You ever hear of the SES? Did you see any of his promos on Undertaker just in the past few weeks?
