I think fans give him too much love :yeshrug:

He was good, but like the OP stated, he got a lot of leeway to do insider stuff in his promos. Those early ECW CM Punk days were horrible

I liked his mic work:ehh:

Kind of off topic, but Punk's been retired for months and people can't help but stay on his dikk and bring him up in convos that have nothing to do with him.
Some of y'all must really love him:troll:
Phil's influence:blessed:

This...and I am a fan.
I got a homeboy who doesn't watch the product anymore and he took his son to a show years ago.
Of course lil man was hyped to see Punk, my homey saw him and was disgusted:russ:
He went on a rant for 20 minutes on how small he was and how could the company give him the title.
I will never forget that day I was in tears:mjlol:

He washed Uncle Tom Johnson on the mic, I'll give him that :manny: @R=G
He washed him so bad that fans went dead on his promo and chanted Rocky every time. Quoting the Wire had TSC happy but the white fanbase? They didn't buy it. I was there LIVE for the go home show with Rock/Punk/Shield. Punk got blasted out of the arena with his shyt...that's why no one ever brings that stuff up. It didn't matter. You cats talk more about the Rock/Cena II match than any Punk promo from that timeframe. Guaranteed not to be on the Raw Top 25 moments. But Rock's return promo will be...

Except Punk had a whole main event program with Rock and easily got the better of him in every promo exchange...
Not really...CM Punk did that fake pipe bomb promo. Fans didn't buy that. Box with God promo? That's like a cult loved online promo...it didn't mean shyt and no one responded like it meant shyt. It's nice he likes Omar Little but he damn sure didn't get the best of anything. Dude got ate up on the mic by Eve Torres...you kids are crazy. Got ate him by Austin too for a sitdown face to face and Rock left Hogan and Austin in the DUST at WM XXX. They were bumbling and stuttering and the Rock had the 70,000 fans chanting anything he wanted. That's a mic god. CM Punk talked a lot in the Rock program but it was buried because he lost and didn't follow up..on some Bray Wyatt type $hit if you want to be technical.

I would take a promo from a guy like Rock where he sons you in character as opposed to a dude who needs to break the 4th wall to say anything against someone. It’s smarky stuff like this that hurts the business. Ironically enough Triple H birthed his whole style

I would argue that it was probably Jerry Lawler that started that shyt. That 4th wall breaking shooty bullshyt was all over Memphis.

Alot of people do it...Rocky, Miz, Steiner, Bryan on bringing up the politics looked TOO REAL to the fans, and of course Punk is g behind the scenes stuff to come off as the smartest guy in the room..something Cripple H lived off on. Their way didn't draw money. Apparently was captivating and had the crowds going loud but that wasn't filling up seats like let it entertaining/feud selling/money promos.

The Rock/Austin WM 17 Sit down with Jim Ross was fukking perfect. They were so in tune with their characters, strengths, and presentation that it came off perfect.

Sure a lot of people do it, my point was it's a lot older than HHH.
