why would a secular nation vote down gay marriage over 90% of the time?

What does this have to do with anything? Are you saying ONLY Christians are against gay marriage? This proves nothing.

I don't know, but I know the most successful country that has ever existed on this planet was founded and created mostly by Deists, most who rejected Christianity outright in their writings

Why would anyone be against gay marriage apart from religion?

My opposition to a lot of "sins" is because of religion.

normal people are naturally disgusted by homosexuality, it has nothing to do with religion. homosexuality was looked down upon long before christianity came along.

Good question :heh:

The 1st Amendment protects us from being bound to the rules of any holy texts, but most people don't understand that and vote based on their specific religious beliefs.

If you think the US was founded to be a Christian nation, why do you think the FIRST thing our founders did was make into law "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.."?

REALLY? So if God didn't punish people for molesting kids, you'd be doing that?

10 commands can be found in the supreme court/federal courts. A secular nation with the law of Moses in their higher courts?

Do to others as you would have them do to you.

I only do to others what I want to be done to me. At least I try :obama3:

You didn't answer any of my damn questions. Does that mean you wanted to be fondled? And who cares what's added to things after the fact? I'm asking you, if in 1776 we were to be founded as a Christian country, why did the founding fathers specifically say no establishment of a religion???

The same founding fathers had the "creator" in the Declaration of independence.

nikka, you duck and weave better than Ali in his prime.

Jefferson, who certainly wasn't a Christian in the customary sense, wrote the Declaration of Independence to declare war against the British. It was not intended to support the notion that the US is Christian in any sense of the word. Just stop it.

Japan, but from the 989
From the Declaration of Independence...

Who is this "creator" the declaring of Independence is talking about?

They didn't know either. It could refer to your actual land owning white father. They had plenty of flowery language in the Constitution to try to express the ideals they wanted to enact, "A More Perfect Union".
