Why hasn't a shooting guard ever been drafted 1st overall in the NBA?

Iverson was NOT drafted to be a point guard. He was a scorer at GT. If you though he was gonna be a pg in the NBA then u didnt watch his college career. Someone like J Kidd or Andre Miller was a point guard coming out.

So using your logic I guess Gary Payton wasn't a point guard either :beli:

AI was the PG at G'Town. Iverson was drafted as a PG for Philly. He ran the point his 1st few years. I dont think he moved to the 2 full time till 99. He had always been a scoring PG.

REALLY in 2007?? look at who was drafted #1 and #2 and get back to me? :wtf:

They wouldn't of taken him before Oden...But I honestly think he woulda went before Durant...

It know it sounds crazy now, but the OJ Mayo hype in High School was CRAZY...they were saying he was gonna have a LeBron type impact.

He didn't get exposed till he went to SC.

Noel or Zeller will go before him.

Zeller? Maybe

Noel? Hell no

I also like the big that went to Baylor(I forget his name) dude is probably the most skilled legit 7 footer I've seen in my life

If he has a monster freshman year he can go early too

The main reason I see Bazz going #1 is how weak the 2 position is right now in the NBA

NO....iverson was a dominant player at the college level who had the ball in his hands at all times, that does not make neccessarily make him a point guard. How are J Kidd and Iverson PGs but play the game at completely opposite ends of the spectrum??

Again positions arent easily defined, their positions are the role that they play within the game for the system the team has set up. I dont understand what is so hard to understand about this? We just group players together cause it makes it easier to have these stupid arguments about who is the best SG or SF.

Noel could go first, all it would take is a 12/8/3 type numbers from him.

Isaiah Austin is no big, he's just some tall kid who wants to be a guard :leostare:

Explain?? Cause I fail to even see where i said his any sense or arrived at that conlcusion? Did I say GP anywhere?

Point is every PG doesn't have to be a pass first PG like Kidd or Miller

Gary Payton is a perfect example of a scoring PG

It doesn't make him a 2 just because he's a scorer

A.I. Didn't start playing to 2 til his 3rd year in the league if I'm not mistaken

Nah I remember the OJ Mayo hype back then, which is why it came as such a surprise when he flamed out in college and the NBA.

You right about Austin but I love his skill set

Dude is gonna beast when he gets stronger

Noel is a bum IMO

Dude don't have any skills and can only block shots and dunk

Some team might be dumb enough to take him #1 but I just don't see it

Iverson and payton are two different types of players as well. A point guard that can score like payton is a lot different than what iverson brought to the table.

Hell Stockton scored 15 over his career compared to 16 for payton

During Paytons best scoring years the Sonics were a meh team
