I've told y'all already - I don't care about forced narratives and stories of influence. For any album. A classic album has to have at least 9 standout cuts (or close to be debatable). Yes, SirBiatch rules but they're based on common sense and there isn't a single hip hop classic album (actual, not forced) that doesn't meet this basic criteria. What are the 9 standout songs on here?

Recognize has been my shyt since the day it dropped. Obvious classic. Standout #1. And the best track on the entire album.

Ride or Die bytch... I enjoyed it back in the day. It's a good song. A little goofy for The Lox but it works. Sure... lemme give it Standout #2.

The rest?

I told y'all already I fukk with Swizz. I'm one of Swizz's biggest defenders on this introvert site. But his production on here is mediocre. None of these beats is close to "All For The Love" in quality, an actual hood classic. Swizz has way better beats before and after this album.

Now if you can come up with better reasons than "this got a lot of burn in 2000 in misery-deep areas", then I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'm done giving you pages :salute:

they whole tape bangs from front-to-back, minus the money-grab single "ryde or die chick", which you seem to like.

nah, I'm not saying this is swizz' best-produced album or anything, but he really didn't have to do much.

what trivial BS arguments?? youre just throwing chit at the wall.

bolster what hood image?? everything I said was facts. it looks like youre just sour because youre out-the-loop.

I'm not even the first one who brought up nerds & squares. I grabbed the ball and ran with it, after other people brought it up.
so don't get mad at me. get mad at THEM if you feel offended.

and you still didn't name an album. you should use that Juelz gif on yourself, because youre the one saying a bunch of nothing. LOL. you dudes don't even know how to use gifs properly.

It's trivial because if it's a classic, it shouldn't even matter what the "Internets" think. Doggystyle is a classic album. I'm sure there's posters here that don't like it, but their credibility would be in question in regard to their opinions on Hip Hop if they questioned whether it was classic. We Are The Streets? Not so much, because it's not of that echelon of albums.

I just told you why in the sentence that preceeded it.

there hasn't been an album on the east coast that has since been as dominant in the streets or as influential.

I just posted an album that I'm quite sure was more dominant and possibly more influential.

Dope album, back during release time
I would have gave it 3.5 mics. Now I would give it 4 mics.

U told me is a dope track, Swizz was using a whole bunch of Roland 5080 presets on there..

LOL at you hating on Ride or Die Chick, the obvious top 2 beat on this album. How can you make an argument about how much people played this album knowing damn well this is the song people played most?

Which one is it? :hula:

Saying "it bangs" and leaving it at that is as dumb as those deadendhiphop lames who say "but it bangs in the whip."

you always make bold statemens, then run for cover when you get called out on them.

I asked you, what are these so-called certified classic albums that I denied??? I ASKED YOU TO MAKE YOURSELF CLEAR LIKE FIVE TIMES NOW.

and you know darn well that doggystyle is not one of those albums that youre referring to.

GROW SOME BALL BOY.

In terms of impact and influence, what impact and influence could be attributed to this album that wouldn't also be true of this one below:

1200x630bb.jpg

I'm a bigger fan of DMX. in fact, I dubbed the LOX album and bought X album out the store. BUT unbiasedly speaking, the LOX album took a big chit on this joint.

sure, DMX was the bigger artist by miles, BUT the LOX album had the streets on lock(pun intended).

as far as influence goes, do you even have to ask?? like not even trying to come at your neck, but if you have to inquire about the LOX' influence, then you shouldn't be arguing.

Eve's debut was better than this DMX album as well.

the LOX chit was getting more play than all them dudes. DMX, nas, jay, whoever.

THIS

its the album that put jada over the top.
I'm probably the biggest critic of Swizz Beatz on here. I actually made a thread questioning whether Ruff Ryders Anthem was a classic :prodigylol:
Plus I was in CA at that time.
All my friends fukked with the LOX way more than I did.
This was the album where I had to fall back though :hubie:
It didn't hit me personally like a flawless classic album...but it had joints. And it as huge on the internet and my friends loved it.
The hype for Jada was real. When we heard Put Your Hands Up for the first time :gladbron:
Then the joint with Styles and ALC :gladbron:
And it all started with We Are the Streets.
We Are the Streets was like 36 chambers in that the hype for the star (Jada/Meth) was crazy and then the final product was :snoop:
Also, I thought I would hate this album when I revisited it for the first time in over a decade like a year ago...but nope...I still like it :pachaha:
And Recognize wasn't top shelf Primo but that shyt was grimy in its simplicity. :ohlawd:
A throwaway is what he gave Fat Joe for Don Cartegena :to:
