this aint no classic..not at all ..but then i dont think lox have any classic albums ..classic songs sure...but their albums lack...their debut on bad boy i always thought was way better but still not classic
If this album was as classic as the OP feels, it couldn't be re-written as otherwise. Thing is, the OP wants to push this narrative of this album being classic, but is quick to on albums with far more validity of being classic than this Lox album.
Come on OP,the streets don't like that album either.
I get what you're trying to do, and in principle I agree. Can't let these hipster bloggers force classics that never resonated with people of the culture, and more importantly, resonate with people of the culture to this day.
But this album aint it. Come back with a better album
@Homeboy Runny-Ray this is probably the most impactful album that isn’t universally considered a classic. It got crazy play in VA and NC when it dropped. If you were in the east coast when this dropped and wasn’t a complete square then you know what it is. But Pitchfork and Complex don’t write anniversary articles about it so...
Lox are generally brushed off by critics though.
and what albums are those??
prolly some dork chit that doesn't even get much hometown luv.
and lol @ your last sentence being a bite off of my post. I stay fathering your style.
Album was good not classic. Sheek flow was still suspect and all over the place. The Lox are very talented but they're actual song crafting skills aren't up to par. Its why they mixtapes were always a day one purchase but albums not so much. Outside of Gangsta and A Gentleman they official releases dont have reply value IMO
I see we agree on the overall for the greater good.
as for this album, just say you don't like it. but don't dare question its impact & influence.
No, my point is you stay creating arguments over trvial BS and then try to bolster this hood image to back it up. Like, a true classic's status doesn't change because some so called "squares on the Net" had a secret meeting to write it out of history. You're more guilty of this than anyone on here. You'vethrough plenty of threads downplaying classics, but then push for albums like a We Are The Streets, which even you are conceding is a regional classic at best, is a tried and true classic.
and yea, as far as this album goes, it exemplifies just about all qualities of a classic. from impact to influence to popularity. i'd say that its is the most important album on the east/southeast to come out after the '90s
