Both albums were kinda mid for different reasons :yeshrug:

Let's be real The Lox strength was always their mixtape work, not retail albums

The first two albums weren’t bad…everything else after was meh.

I did like No Security album from 09 though. Lox should have been handling their business though.

If they had handled Hood right, the label could have been a army like Dipset was.

I mean they had access to every producer and DJ all though NYC.

They were picking weed carriers and and shyt.

If that was the case, they should’ve just used that label for themselves only.

We know about the labels BS ing around and giving trouble to talented artists, but I know The LOX didnt fight hard enough to put out a 3rd album when everyone was fiending for it. Imagine them dropping a 3rd album back in 2004.....their legacies would be entirely different.

04 would have been perfect…

They should have dropped their Major label stuff independently back then as we’ll.

In that year, Koch was the perfect home for a Lox album.

No major label was gonna get behind all three of them together.

They could have dropped their album first on Koch and helped promote J-Hood a bit and then drop him during 2005/2006.

i personally prefer MPR. but it's really hard to say it's a better album if you were there to see how much more love the lox got when we are the streets dropped. you could not avoid that album in my neighborhood. literally could not walk a block without hearing "fukk you," "breathe easy" "blood pressure" or "we are the streets". 24 hour rotation.

They were doing their solos, up until the money ran out at Ruff Ryders, when X stopped selling, and burned out on the drugs, and rap shifted directions. RR was done by about 2005. Probably late 04.

Let’s keep it a stack .. We Are the streets was cool and served its purpose at the time but MPR Is way more cohesive and timeless .. the puff association be having nikkas scared to admit the truth
Swizz beatz singlehandedly ruined we are the streets to the point where I find it unlistenable.

This here is the #1 answer... those two albums were both packed with "in the moment" production, a fair amount of skippable shyt, and a handful of standouts that made for a decent listen. As time went on, both of those albums got more skippable. The highs are high but everything else is a low...

And I love LOX, but they never quite put it together when it came to making a classic album as they should have. This also lends itself to their solo projects too.

They are both good imo. I will say when I got into my early 20s and went back and listened again I was surprised how good Money Power Respect was.
