Because it's the internet ... it might not be perceived as a classic globally , but on the east coast it definitely is a street classic ... this album is probably one of my earliest memories of Hip Hop as a kid I remember going to the park and hearing at least 2/3 tracks from this album playing outside of someones vehicle .... niccas think everything gotta sound like Liquid Swords & Illmatic to be regarded as a classic

then that poster is a p*ssy for not tagging me.

and you up here trying to put honor behind that post, what does that say about you??

Nobody's obligated to tag you and you getting upset over it says much more about you than it does them.

I wasn't honoring anything. I was making an observation since you put so much into what the Internet thinks.

Harlem World is Mase's definitive albums.

I prefer It Was Written and a couple of other Nas albums to Illmatic. That doesn't mean that I expect some overwhelming consensus to agree. I know that any Nas album being considered >>>>>>> Illmatic is unpopular opinion. Illmatic still stands as his definitive album.

Blueprint is also a definitive album for Jay and there may be more of a split on that one.

War Report
is still CNN's definitive album.

so how are those albums still considered to be their definitive best, but not WATS?? is it simply because you weren't aware of the impact & importance of WATS before this thread?? or is it just because you want to argue & it doesn't fit your narrative?

I was talking about harlem world in comparison to mase's underground material.

its a worthless observation.

and I made it a point about the internet, because we're posting on the internet. this thread is on the internet.

and if you reference me in any form, then you should tag me.

The Lox don't have a definitive work. Neither album is a classic. It's what I was getting at with my initial posts in this thread: If WATS was a classic album like you're claiming it is, The Internets would not matter. It would be something that couldn't be rewritten and you wouldn't get the amount of people saying it isn't classic (even people who like the album) in this thread.

Regardless, Harlem World is still his definitive album.

It's not a worthless observation because you're still placing importance on the Internet, but then want to talk about the streets. Like I stated before, The Internets shouldn't even matter in that regard. If it really was a classic, there would've been no need to talk about this album based on what the Internet thinks. Either you care why The Internets acknowledge it as a classic or you don't care. Now, if you really were out here in these streets like you claim, you wouldn't be whining about why the Internets don't acknowledge WATS as a classic. It wouldn't matter.

various songs from this album were getting play on the radio at the time, they were the hottest act going, personal classic for me as i can pretty much listen to this album to this day back to back... a lot of younger people these days prolly offended at the ignorant homophobic lyrics :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

This...but I would say Jada's 3rd album is a good, his best and probably on par with Gangsta and a Gentlemen.

We Are the Streets is good...it's not classic to me, but the biggest reason is I used to hate Swizz Beatz production.

Fukkin hated Jadas 3rd album :mjlol:

For me it was the 3rd and final strike I was tired of givin the nikka chances.

I think I've hated punchline rap ever since

Yeah, i feel people either loved or hated that album. I thought it was a continuation of what he did before, but I thought he was going in the right direction with the track mix.
