please tell me what is wrong with that answer in regards to the question asked? :stopitslime:
Most people are aspiring for an average life, most educations lead to average jobs. Average being something like a teacher, IT-dude, nurse, a normal journalist, most types of lawyers, police, engineers or whatever. If that wasn't the case everyone would be trying to start businesses. Though no one wants to hear about that shyt in a rap song. Still there is a lot of average shyt these rappers rap about, mostly it's love/family/friendship related.

Music like other mediums is a form of escapism, for 60 or so minutes you're in the protagonist's world. Joe Budden while talented gets hate because to be frank his songs are depressing as fukk. If your life ain't shyt, why would you wanna listen to another dude talk about how his life ain't shyt?

:mindblown: Have you ever heard of the blues? What do you think rap music was primarily about prior to the No limit-Cashmoney era? The foundation of rap music was laid down by this song. Listen to it and tell me hiphop was supposed to be about rapping as if everybody can live like Mitt Romney.

"Some might even say an underachiever, cause I don't want the world. But I done seen the world. And if you ever saw it, hell, you wouldn't want it either. I don't need a kingdom, just need a home. You can take a seat, or you can take the throne. As long as it is known ain't a damn thing changed, still the underground king fukker, dance in the reign."

PHONTE - Dance In The Reign (Official Music Video directed by Kenneth Price) - YouTube

:snoop: please don't tell me you thought my post was anything more than an answer the question? :laff:

this doesn't explain the phenomenon that is societies fascination with the celebrity

no it doesn't have to be you donut

This post is all types of fail and filled with too much opinion rather than fact.

Hip Hop is based off the blues? O'rly now, cos I could've sworn it started off as being party music?

and who cares mate, seriously, and what has your post got to do with the t/s 's question?
The Blues is the father to hiphop. I don't expect youngsters from Australia to understand the culture but if you're a brutha and older than 21 it's no excuse for you to not know this shyt. Hiphop wasn't created to be a fukking fantasy world built on materialism and violence. It's the Executive Cacs that encouraged that shyt so the youth will follow it.

Heaven on Earth
rap left reality behind almost 20 years ago
Funny you made this thread because yesterday I was just thinking about how Common's debut album was titled Can I Borrow A Dollar? and how that would never happen on a major label release today.. Even if that was the artists reality they would be too insecure to present themselves that way..

They are entertaining? A lot of them are extremely talented at one particular thing that is entertaining? Some of them are just very interesting to a lot of people for unknown reasons like Kim Kardashian. But most times it's the first reasons.

I never said fantasy capitalistic music couldn't be good. I just asked why don't more ppl make reality music. Why as soon as they sign that contract they feel the need to forget about the life they led prior to applying their penmanship to paper.

:what: oh my god you are a fukking moron

Firstly, my post wasn't based on what I believe the topics covered in a hip hop song should be

Secondly, maybe I took the level of intelligence in the coli for granted and should of spelt out my post like "I believe rappers think noone is aspiring to an average lifestyle and they themselves are obviously not aspiring to an average lifestyle otherwise they wouldn't be rapping, as they would be privy to the riches that comes with being a successful rapper

Thirdly, let's get really obvious with this and i'll post rappers delight (no point in discussing the history of this song)

mad relateable lyrics breh :ohhh:

Lastly, i'm British, go with the tea and crumpet angle next time you dumb fukk

Remember that the average rapper isn't rich, don't be fooled

Im positive. Even when rappers acquire enough finances to move out of the ghetto who do you think are their neighbors? It surely ain't all business owners.

Define "the average rapper"
If you're talking about an unknown rapper putting vids up on Youtube and free albums through .org websites, then yeah

But if you're talking about relatively known rappers, even someone who floats around in the underground but grinds with touring, I doubt dentists make TRIPLE what they earn.
It all depends on how good you are, the experience, and competence anyways. There's more dentists then there are professional rappers, so I wouldn't compare a secure job like that to a musical act working off scraps
