A lot of rappers like talking about their own life and also cause we have people like on here that will say that cats like "personality" and are "boring" like Cole if they do.

Drake has a lot of songs that one can relate to as well, hell most new rappers do.
Wale did before MMG, Cole, Kendrick, Drake, Ab-soul and on. And certain rappers have lines or attitudes you can relate to on certain occasion.

Dentists are also very boring people, not people you would pay to listen to for anything else than your dental care.
And what's an average rapper? If someone like Gucci Mane is an average rapper he makes 20 times more than an average dentist.
And the 90th percentile rapper, makes about 50-100 times more than the 90th percentile dentist. Difference would be that there is probably 1000s of those dentists and 10 of those rappers.

Music like other mediums is a form of escapism, for 60 or so minutes you're in the protagonist's world. Joe Budden while talented gets hate because to be frank his songs are depressing as fukk.
