Mase is an entertainer. He made catchy songs and had a rap style that people appreciated. He was able to be street and cool and appeal to women at the same time

Problem is. Every album felt like he was trying on a new outfit. From CoC to Bad Boy to his Jesus-y thing to G-Unit and now he's a sports caster. He goes where the wind blows and doesn't seem to have any creative or artistic sensibilities

If you like the music sure, but he hasn't been a really memorable contributor to this shyt if we're being honest

Ma$e retiring in 99 and coming back outta retirement as the Black Fred Rogers didnt help…

When he came back in 2004, folks were bumping Fabolous and was no need for Ma$e.

I thought that Welcome Back was a mature album from him.

On the Lean Back remix, he had one of the best verses next Em

Harlem World is a classic, and other verses/songs from that era are dope but he couldn't keep it going.

If he made something now that was well received it would help solidify his legacy, but I don't think he knows what kind of artist to be. Puff drove Harlem World creatively, but it would be great if he found his own lane.

Ma$e's influence on hip hop is greater than his actual career. He inspired plenty of rappers and plenty used his flow. If you're a millennial he came out in very formative years.

Again his actual career just wasn't long enough. He doesn't have the body of work to be a top rapper.
