Disco was always known as house.
It is just because of the location of the last great disco black ghetto style parties at the wherehouse.
Just covered up the disco label and used the more street based genre name and records from the artist in that realm.
To give.disco an undercover draw.

Disco is term that came later after the music was already around. Before the term Disco came the music was just known as Soul/Funk/Jazz Funk etc..or danceable R&B

It was def racial. Disco was influenced by black music and it had the radio stations on lockdown. A lot of rock fans were racist back then and couldn't stand the idea of their music not being #1. Even their bands were trying to hop on the disco train.
