Why doesn't Disco music get props for being the mother of House music?

Those who don't study history are DOOMED to repeat it.

What happened to disco is happening to hip-hop right now.

The only difference is that disco was more-or-less confined to America/Europe whereas hip-hop is global.

Since house isn't 'mainstream' that's about the last place the genre can be kept alive.

The original........

The house version........

The House music sound is all over dance-pop. This is basically House based, music lol

By the way, this guy explains 100% why there is/was a resistance to EDM/ Dance music in the USA and I agree with him. It all related to that Disco backlash and why the fathers of modern dance music from CHicago and Detroit had to go to Europe to get appreciated.

Hell, Disco was HUGE in Europe, but Euro/Italo-disco wasn't appreciated to the same extent over here......

Man, the first time I heard this joint was on The Benny Hill Show........

Bottom-line, 'White' heterosexual American men felt their 'manhood' being threatened by Disco since it catered to minorities, women and homosexuals.

this is the funk/disco episode of the history of rock n roll - make it funky [this > that time warner made bullsit]

this is from a music doc called "history of rock n roll", that aired on pbs years ago (i recorded on vhs, to give you an idea of the time)

for those of you to bothered to watch...
disco - an offshoot of funk, mostly made for/by black folks, record companies see the money being made introduced saturday night fever and the bee gees - they suck all the funk out of the music, narrowing it down to "the disco beat" (used over, and over, and over)...

gamble-huff's definition of disco = funky dance records..

Like I said: Those who don't study history are DOOMED to repeat it.

We stopped listening to what was being broadcast on the radio and directly supported the artists we liked by BUYING their 33 1/3's & 45's.

ALL the media outlets available to us were playing this shyt......

Shyt was a smash hit. The height of commercial disco.......

:snoop:

I don't want to post anymore than this because it's that embarrassing.
