Why doesn't Disco music get props for being the mother of House music?

Disco is the father of Dance-pop and EDM, period.

To answer the question though, as far as America goes, the people in the know are aware of it's connection to Disco but to many others, they think it came from Europe.

It does....maybe not in America where people really dont have a clue about house... but in Europe everyone knows that Disco, the cities of Detroit and Chicago birthed dance music...

Europeans appreciated it more more because in America, Disco/dance music got associated with with blacks, puerto ricans and gay people from conservative whites/the Rock crowd. Euro's weren't hung up on that because they knew they had nothing like it in their homelands.

American DJs are more famous in Europe than they are in America

Disco and new jack swing are two of the last shots of true soul music sub genres that came out of black culture. Cacs try to discredit it because it was mostly a BLACK and gay sub genre, but it produced some funky ass music. Gamble and huff one of the most prolific production teams of all time fam, Donna Summer had one of the best voices, Heatwave and Rod Temperton, the BeeGees my nikka?

IF things were fair, Chic would be up there as one of the best rhythmn sections in music history. Nile Rodgers+Bernard Edwards+Tony Thompson and Luther on background vocals?
