You know.
Allegedly,...Lupe wrote the only good record on this album.

Art Barr

Huh? Lupe ain't meet Jay until 2002 and TBA recording time. Lupe wasn't around for blueprint.

Now, Lupe didn't write Allure

But, Lupe gave away Lucifer cause he felt Jay would be great on it. When rappers give a joint away it means beats, concepts, and/or hooks. Then the rapper pens in the verses.

And since Lupe said joints...he probably gave away a couple more beats/concepts combos to Jigga for TBA. Hell, he might have gave Jay a flow idea to use....but Jay still penned the bars.

Tbh, I almost never see the Blueprint get any hate. Almost everyone considers it to either be a classic or a quality album save for some contrarians.

The Volume albums have gotten underrated for a long time though.

Vol 1 was quality, with the Bad Boy polish. Sunshine is awful

Vol 2: very underrated. Quality album

Vol 3: basura.

Stop.

All this story telling.

When it should not be no other emcee around.
who wrote this or that.

If you bought a record from such and such. you are a not real emcee.
That is what you not getting.

Plus you not of no skill as an grassroots emcee.
or headliner to a say different either.

Ol loan dodger mainstream culture theif apologist rapper face ass stories.

Stop.

I tried to be vague and say allegedly too.
Yet.
nikkaz make up new culture thief based rules for nikkaz selectively.
While never propping the real dopest. Then trying to change the criteria to match sellout sentiments from a culture theif perspective.
Then try to lie about this pervasive culture thief based change after the fact.

This notion the BP was carried by production is bulletpoint Number 1 of hate lol

the album is one of the most quoted albums ever. to be one of the most quoted albums ever means your lyrics have to be kind of good lol

Drake is constantly quoted, doesn't make his lyrics good. I'm not saying Blueprint doesn't have good lyrics, I'm just saying that's not a good argument for it.

To me the lyrics argument was always lazy and a Jay-specific slight that few rappers get hit with on an undeniably great album. Instead of just saying "I hold Jay to a different standard than other rappers and don't care about brag raps unless my favorite rapper is doing brag raps" they'll say the lyrics were meh. No normal person heard that album and thought it was bad lyrically. He's spitting on every track, and there are some concept/thematic records too.

You can not have good rap lyrics and the rapper did not write them.

Album is carried more by the idea.
it was rhe most publicized anything released on 9/11.
Plus still marketed after 9/11.

Yet the best albums released on 9/11 in store any genre.
were tool laterals [arguable best rock album ever made] and system of a down[arguable best rapping released in a rock context but not rap rock...it is system of a down. Which is like gwar without the costumes].

Jayz's Blueprint is the pr social safe zone for America for 9/11. The same way fab was marketed as the mtv American motif rapper for can't deny it because of the American flag motif in the video.
In pr they try to make Blueprint into the period piece of 9/11.
With jayz being arguably the best pr'd person in rap history.
It is ambitious none the least.

Yet not indicative of the truth.
Like most of jayz's revisionist.
to the victor goes the spoils style of pr.

Yeah Toxicity album was great, it blows away rap metal albums and Serj can sing. Most of the late 90s/whole 00s metal was garbage. I'm no big metal expert but give me something like Pantera over these rap metal bands.

Re! Spect! Walk! What did you say???

These things change from board to board. "Ether Day" was a thing on SOHH so there are more people who hate on Jay for fun here.

When I used to post on OKP it was the opposite, folks would go out of their way to pick at Nas and make him look foolish.

I don't see a lot of hate for the "Blueprint" album. But the introspective songs on Vol. 1 & even The Black Album move me a bit more. Maybe the beats are too glossy for my taste because the introspective songs are well written.

Izzo was trash??? :mjtf:

The whole world was/is saying “….did that, so hopefully you wont have to go through that”

Yeah im out

Even Chappelle incorporated that line a couple years later on Chappelle Show during a skit, lol. It was funny.

"I was raised in the projects roaches and rats" ... smooth double entendre he dropped on it too.

The hook was corny though....

That's when he started down the volume 2 path...he laid the groundwork with sunshine and what girls like. His singles on Vol 1 was different than the other tracks in the album is the point.

Why are you bringing up singles to attempt to make a point about an album? Are sure you listened to Vol.1? lol

Here we go again with Swagger Jacking. Dude was paying homage and allowing people to research the lines for the culture. Blueprint came out during the mp3 filesharing era... internet plus listening to older albums was free and easy.

And in this Spotify era along with Rap Genius etc. You realize a lot of rappers took lines and concepts from 80s hip hop albums.

You was the first one on this board bigging up Cardi B to be a problem and take over. You was drooling over her....and she doesn't write every hook nor come up with every concept.

:deadrose: Bring home a point arguing for Jay by drawing a Cardi comparison

I remember this I believe Art bigged her up because of her personality/swagger... I don't recall him saying Cardi was a dope mc.
