Sometimes I think it's only because White people somewhat "claim" them. There's a reason it's mostly AAs who embrace them (except for Cheick Anta Diop), I've hardly really heard any African claim Ancient Egypt (let alone Hebrews) to the extent AAs do.

Since Western African civilizations have not been glorified by White people, Black people don't really look into them. Hell one could wonder why, a lot of Blacks being Christians, they don't look more into Ethiopian christianity :yeshrug:

It has zero to do with "self-hate", seeing West Africa as inferior or liking whatever white people like. All of those are just silly. The thing is African history is VERY hard to get into for laymen. Hell when I first started to get into African history it was hard because info is hard to come by. The majority of laymen do not know much about African history(hell I'm still learning and I'm invested in it) besides the Ancient Egyptians and Zulus. The rest of Africa is clouded in mystery. Information is not that "direct" like say Ancient Egypt. Try telling the average black laymen about the Mali Empire and he/she will not know. Whenever someone asks me about African history irl I always tell them about Mali(since its West African) and they are always clueless about.

The fact of the matter is the rest of Africa does not have a machine(Egyptomania) like Ancient Egypt does. Fact is Ancient Egypt is many black laymens first introduction into African history(it was my intro too) and from there thats when they start learning about the others. So all this talk about viewing West Africa as inferior is ridiculous.

Also blacks embracing being Native American or Hebrew is just some silly exaggeration that was just added just to be added.

This!

It's just access. Once folks are made more aware of West African contributions, they'll embrace them.

I agree, especially about Egypt, which for a lot of us was a gateway and got our feet wet towards learning any kind of African history. However I do think there are elements of self-hate in the Native/Hebrew/Moor/Etc. folks but those types are so small they're barely worth mentioning IMO. Just one of those cases where a very vocal yet very small minority that make a lot of noise on the internet like a lot of the fringes of society do, but average everyday Black folk either aren't aware of them like that or are indifferent towards them.

It's because White people like to focus on those cultures

HOWEVER it's not always bc of black self hate.

Most black people learn about Africa through white people and 'western' curriculum, simply put.

Those places are most talked about, even by wytpepo. It's all that schools talk about. Some people might not be fascinated by the cultures there. Also, sadly, a lot of East and Northern Africans have so-called European features and loose-to-straight-hair which makes their "beauty" an added bonus. What people don't know is that many West Africans came from other parts of Africa, so they often share common languages, customs, even features. The Fulani people look like your "typical" East African, but they are mostly in West Africa and vice versa with Sudanese people. Africa is extemely diverse.

Oh and people have an unhealthy fascination with Ancient Egyptian alchemy, majic, and science. And some folks actually have Native American roots. At least 2% lol. (My great-great-great grandma was a full-blooded Blackfoot Indian. They even have a lock of her hair. My great-great grandma on my moms side a Native too..don't know which tribe) It's easier to find your Native roots than your African roots because the slave trade really mixed folks up. I personally like knowing that at least 2 of my ancestors was originally from here.

When I encountered my first Hebrew Israelite videos I wanted to slap the hell out of those black people.I'm tired of my people being gullible to stupidness and nonsense. Native American culture is a different thing that is because people can actually trace their ancestry back to America and not West Africa. I never really cared that much about Egypt I don't even know the names of the Pharaohs with Cleopatra being the exception.

I don't encourage our people to learn about West African culture mainly because that's not the majority's history...our people have connection to that land but originally our people are from America. You can't force African culture onto people who know their heritage. The only connection we really have is that some of their people were brought over here and some of our people we shipped over there.

Only about 300,000 Africans were brought to the shores of North America and that occurred mostly in the late 1700s to the Civil War. Our population is over 40 million in the United States...mathematically you can't get that many from 300,000 Africans in just over a century. (But you will have some nikkas believing in fairy tales, they start fantasizing about slavery talking about rape from the masta and massive breeding farms just so they can hold onto their narrative)

A picture of Nat Love (Clearly this brother is not West African), a black cowboy...he was born into slavery.

More of our people...you know those 100k free colored or black people were Indians

Our people on Tobacco plantations around 1500s-1600s (they said the Indians introduced tobacco to Europeans not Africans). Well why don't you see any straight hair (stereotypical) indians on these posters?

Our people always talking about 400 years of slavery when most Africans were only enslaved in these lands for no longer than 100 years. Meanwhile our native ancestors were enslaved and made prisoners of wars. We fought back against these cacs everytime. That's one of the reasons why they started bringing Africans to these shores.

West Africa does not have really have diverse features if you exclude migration....our people were the first to be enslaved and traded around in the Triangular Trade...our people were sent to Europe and Africa. That's where you get some of these artifacts made by European tobacco store owners. (The cacs in Europe know who we are...if you travel to foreign countries you might get asked are you Indian or American?)
