It's not the only answer but it is one of a few.

I'm not determining what anyone is doing with their money. You, as a citizen, agree to pay the taxes of the government and some of that revenue goes to helping create a better society. What we do have to power to determine is what our taxes should be used for.

And I'm asking: "So what kind of tragedies are you supposing will occur for a person making 130k, that would make the tax increase unreasonable for the population as a whole?"

Actually it's not an answer at all. Raising taxes doesn't solve shyt.

Need to eliminate private sector and replace it with 1%.

Painting the entire private sector with one brush is extremely ignorant.

Yes, I stand corrected. Not the entire private sector but a good chunk of it. I'm not naive into thinking that the whole problem falls on the 1%. Some of it falls on the dumbass poor or middle class person who protects the 1% in some grand illusion that they might one day become part of the 1%.

the bolded isn't true imo.

As far as tragedies go- so it's ok to increase taxes on someone making a living to provide for his own family just because the outcome wont result in a tragedy? That doesn't make much sense to me.

So what you're saying is that the private sector and private contractors are committing crimes and are practicing greed, and if we only had the ability to let these greedy criminals do whatever they wanted without impunity from a government, they would then do the right thing?

Did I state your argument correctly?

Seems like your issues are with rich people and the current political system. Anyway, with the current system it is much easier to rip off the public taxpayer than a privately funded project so either way, govt loses.

Why do you think we don't have the power to influence how our taxes are allocated?

If the tax increase doesn't result in any major harm, and the revenue is actually being used to create a more livable society, then I find nothing wrong with it. At the least, I think most would agree they rather have their tax dollars used for that than subsidizing the ultra rich.

Actually it's not an answer at all. Raising taxes doesn't solve shyt.

What do you mean by this? Raising taxes on the rich increases tax revenue and that tax revenue can be used to fund the social policies we support.

A lot of times where the money goes isn't representative of the desires of the population but that's not a problem with taxes themselves, it's a problem with the government.

200,000 after the 33% income tax comes out to only 130-140 thousand... I don't consider that rich...:manny:
:snoop: Jesus christ. We got another Sly back in the days on sohh here. What's up with these conservatives who are so obsessed with taxes not knowing how marginal tax brackets work? You whine about taxes all day, you'd think you would at least know how income is taxed.

So we should put the onus on the guy making 130k after taxes to help send someones else's kids to a better public school?
:snoop: Another one? Is there one conservative here who understands the basis upon which income is taxed? :heh:

Who is this hypothetical person that makes $130K after taxes you're referring to? Where are you getting that number from?

We were talking about crimson tiders definition of rich in NY. Well actually to him location doesn't matter.

I'm not going to tell you. As much as you talk about taxes, you should damn well know why a person who makes 200K's whole income is not taxed at 33%. I'm going to give you 24 hours to research it. If you still don't know at 4:05 pm eastern time tomorrow, I'll tell you.

Nobody else reading this tell him please.

No we're not. Again, I'm asking you where did you come up with that 130K number? I suspect you're in the same boat of ignorance on how income is taxed in America as DEAD7.
