My statements are in regards to the current system. Addressing problems with the system is a different thing. In this current system, a private person can accomplish what the government does with less obstacles therefore spending less money and being more efficient.

Less obstacles. Like having interstate highways? Air Traffic Control system and airports? Police and other government agencies to protect their goods and business?

A private person can accomplish things easier because it's easier for them not to give a fukk about someone else. A government is supposed to take into considerations all aspects of the population and land. Sure, The Koch Brothers can build a plant upstream on a river and pollute the water for those downstream much better and faster than a government can. But is it right and fair? NO.

:patrice: This doesn't the refute the claim that govt. is inefficient or that the private sector can perform many of the functions for less...

The government is inefficient because it has been hijacked and infiltrated by the private sector. The government has been coerced into acting like the middle man, and people like you just want the middle man to be gone so the corporations can return to having serfs and slaves.

The amount of scams and short cuts that were taken was outrageous. Its a common problem with public projects. Everyone wants a piece. Thats usually how things get so expensive. I met some union guy that was tied into the dig and he was getting $40 an hour to stack milk crates. $40 per hour. :stopitslime:

Of course. It's blatantly obvious and no one ever bats an eye. You become a whistle blower you'll have Mr. Sacrimoni or Mr Sullivan at your door the next day.

Bids on these projects are always fixed. Onus goes on the taxpayer. Project always costs more than it is. Rinse, wash, repeat.

How many roads and bridges need fixing? Remember when the bridge fell in Minnesota or Wisconsin a few years back? They went and checked all bridges and dams and found something like 80% of them are faulty and may collapse. The highway system was created like 60 years ago coming out of WW2 and it helped boost the economy and create a better interstate commerce system. I'm not saying all govt projects are bad. There are def some good ones out there but in the grand scheme of things govt projects cost a lot more and have a lot more issues than private ones. Private corps have budgets that they HAVE to stick to. Public projects can get additional taxpayer funding at will. If you're the contractor and you think you can get a few more bucks out of the project, wouldn't you at least try to?

So what you're saying is the the contractor (usually a private entity from the private sector) decides to swindle the government under corrupt practices? I see. Keep going friend you're on the right track of discovery.

...because income tax is a retarded idea especially since those tax dollars are grossly mismanaged to fund fake wars in the middle east. I applaud the smart people who hide their assets in the Cayman Islands.

It takes two to tango. Generally the gvt is supposed to choose the most cost effective firm. That never happens. Ultimately it's up to the government too choose.

Because who's to determine what other monetary responsibilities this person may have on his/her plate?

So what kind of tragedies are you supposing will occur for a person making 130k, that would make the tax increase unreasonable for the population as a whole?

The difference is a private contractor working on a private project is restricted by a hard budget and he has to please whomever is paying him. A private contractor working a public project doesn't have to please anyone(the public either doesn't know or doesn't really care as its maybe $30 out of an individuals pocket and they don't think on a collective scale) and can have budget over-runs that will always be paid by the taxpayer.

Why is your answer to increase taxes?

Who are you to determine what someone else should be doing with their money? People have motgages to pay, kids going to college, sudden illnesses, aging parents, paying other peoples pensions etc.

Like I have already stated emphatically before: the government has been hijacked through pumping money into elections, lobbying, infiltrating, bribing and giving politicians future jobs. The government here acts as a middle man that occasionally acts on the side of the people if the outrage is severe enough. The private sector wants to do away with the middle man period so they can install their modern day serfdom.

So what you're saying is that the private sector and private contractors are committing crimes and are practicing greed, and if we only had the ability to let these greedy criminals do whatever they wanted without impunity from a government, they would then do the right thing?

Did I state your argument correctly?

Need to eliminate private sector and replace it with 1%.

Painting the entire private sector with one brush is extremely ignorant.

It's not the only answer but it is one of a few.

I'm not determining what anyone is doing with their money. You, as a citizen, agree to pay the taxes of the government and some of that revenue goes to helping create a better society. What we do have to power to determine is what our taxes should be used for.

And I'm asking: "So what kind of tragedies are you supposing will occur for a person making 130k, that would make the tax increase unreasonable for the population as a whole?"
