Why do people try to say TLOU has shallow gameplay?

I read this earlier today and I think it's relevant to this thread.

The Last Of Us is precisely the kind of game that should not be winning any competitive awards of merit. Just as The Avengers or Transformer movies have no place winning a serious cinema award when compared to cinema that is genuinely artful and meaningful, The Last Of Us is the kind of blockbuster fun that deserved every dollar that it made, but it does a very poor job of representing the greatest creativity that the games industry can offer.

Just spew stanary instead of having meaningful conversation brehs :heh:
right, you are the same cat that suggested people who like TLOU (Masterpiece, which you don't like) should try Ryse (shytty and unpolished trash, but you accept) and act like its some sophisticated conversation.

I have used this argument before, once you have a critically acclaimed game released that YOU don't like is just a point of acceptance that you have to take. I have never been a big GTA fan, but accept the fact that its one of the most important gaming franchises out there. TLOU is probably the most important game released of this past generation and it bothers you.

I never said i didn't like TLOU. In fact I said I liked it a lot, and I got some of that same big blockbuster, cinematic enjoyment out of Ryse. And there is nothing unpolished about Ryse the gameplay is repetitive. But the graphics/animation/presentation are the highlights of the game.

:what: the fukk are you talking about. I'm not bothered by anything.

Can't believe you pretend to be some type of objective poster/mod. Literally everything you say is steeped in stanary.:scusthov:

I knew I'd get pissed off entering this thread. fukk these Xbots man...
Cat is making no sense at all breh.

Hate on the game that is universally praised, yet turn around and suggest people go ahead and try an inferior game that you happen to like...

Make a thread asking for opinions then call all opinions you don't like trash, while ignoring the very valid points being made brehs :heh:
Almost none of his points are valid tho because the mediums are completely different.

Name 5 games that have a tighter package overall than TLOU in the past 5 years. There is one game in particular released on the Gamecube that I will give a nod over TLOU, but there are not much more.

"
It's basically just corridors(although beautifully rendered to give a sense of openness) and arenas.
Walk down the halway, pick up some supplies, get to the arena kill all the enemies, watch a cutscene, rinse and repeat."
You realize this is not a valid opinion right? You're basically trying to boil the game down to a simple straightforward structure and call it an opinion. You realize you're the only one in here who's stated such right?? I'm shocked a few of your ilk haven't chimed in yet. You cannot make an intelligent debate.

The mediums are different, but the enjoyment you get out of TLOU is very similar to those movies he mentioned. They are great spectacle, they are a wild ride, and millions of people love experiences like that, but they are ultimately shallow experiences.

Where the genres diverge is where their strengths should lie, but with TLOU and Avengers they never take that next step. Games should be about gameplay, the best games in my opinion are the ones that give you a great backdrop, great mechanics, and then they let you PLAY. Not guide you through 10 hours of scripted moments. I fully understand that my opinion of what a game SHOULD be is not held by everyone. But for y'all that like the game, you pretend that any criticism is totally off base, no matter how valid or well thought out that criticism may be.

Just because you really like the game doesn't mean you have to pretend its perfect

I could name plenty more than 5. But there would be no point in arguing opinion.

The game is a simple straightforward structure. You can't make any of your own decisions that impact the story/gameplay. You can't leave off the path the devs have set up and explore on your own.

Explain how the game is different from what I said.
