I don't hate JWs, but I was terrified of them from an early age. They'd knock on the door on Saturday morning and you'd think we were Jews in Nazi Germany and the Gestapo was at the door. Moms would leap to turn off the tv then we'd sit completely still not saying a word until they finally stopped knocking. I ain't know just what them old ladies was up to and I damn sure wasn't trying to find out. :russ:

....
They are considered to be cults by mainstream Christians. Mormons and JW have an awful racist past (historically speaking) but so did many mainstream churches ... but in all fairness every group has idiots.

Well, I'm not too familiar with your teachings, so this might work better the other way around.

Bible Gateway passage: Acts 10:34, Acts 10:35 - New International Version

You don't believe this, correct?

Of course i do
Acts 10:34
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

God is telling us I dont care if he is the president, Lebron James, or the local joker up the street. Don't be scared to say "thus say to the Lord" to the big wigs. Hence the prophets standing up to Pharaoh, kings, rulers etc, The reason its mentioned in Acts is because they read it in the OT . The read the commandments in the OT and taught them during the times of the NT
Deuteronomy 1:17
Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.

2nd Chronicles 19:7
Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.

James 2:1 & 2:9
2My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lordof glory, with respect of persons.
9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
Job 34:19
How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

Galatians 2:6
But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:

Acts 15:19
And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

Romans 2:11
For there is no respect of persons with God.

Romans 3:29
Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

Ephesians 6:9
And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

Colossians 3:25
But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

1 Peter 1:17
And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

I have no problem with their religion per se. It's just in school they were so so aggressive. Kind of a turn off to be fair. :yeshrug:

Actually there's only been two editions of the NWT. One in the 60s and one in 2013.

And the New World Translation has consistently been cited as one of the more accurate Bible translations. Most scholars only take issue with the name "Jehovah" being in the New Testament.

I used to be a JW, so I know their knowledge of Scripture is second to none. I don't believe in the Bible, but if you do, it's pretty hard to argue with JWs.

In fact, @ReturnOfJudah and @CinnaSlim, it's been a while, but I'm willing to go a few Biblical rounds if ya'll want. :youngsabo:
That's nice breh.

Cited by who? :heh: Where are you getting your info from? Other JWs? All you have to do is Google "New World Translation" and you'll find criticisms of it.

Here's a critical analysis of the NWT.

"For there are three witness bearers,"

What are the NWT readers missing? What does the real Bible say?

"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

This is THEIR explanation.

"In the late 19th century, scholars B. F. Westcott and F.J.A. Hort compared existing Bible manuscripts and fragments as they prepared the Greek master text that they felt most closely reflected the original writings. In the mid-20th century, the New World Bible Translation Committee used that master text as the basis for its translation. Other early papyri, thought to date back to the second and third centuries C.E., were also used. Since then, more papyri have become available. In addition, master texts such as those by Nestle and Aland and by the United Bible Societies reflect recent scholarly studies. Some of the findings of this research were incorporated into this present revision.

Based on those master texts, it is evident that some verses of the Christian Greek Scriptures found in older translations, such as the King James Version, were actually additions made by later copyists and were never part of the inspired Scriptures. However, because the verse division generally accepted in Bible translations was already established in the 16th century, the omission of these verses now creates gaps in the verse numbering in most Bibles. The verses are Matthew 17:21; 18:11; 23:14; Mark 7:16; 9:44, 46; 11:26; 15:28; Luke 17:36; 23:17; John 5:4; Acts 8:37; 15:34; 24:7; 28:29; and Romans 16:24. In this revised edition, those omitted verses are indicated by a footnote at the location of the omission

Regarding the long conclusion for Mark 16 (verses 9-20), the short conclusion for Mark 16, and the wording found at John 7:53–8:11, it is evident that none of these verses were included in the original manuscripts. Therefore, those spurious texts have not been included in this revision."

The New World Translation

"A 2003 study by Jason BeDuhn, associate professor of religious studies at Northern Arizona University in the United States, of nine of "the Bibles most widely in use in the English-speaking world," including the New American Bible, The King James Bible and The New International Version, examined several New Testament passages in which "bias is most likely to interfere with translation." For each passage, he compared the Greek text with the renderings of each English translation, and looked for biased attempts to change the meaning. BeDuhn reported that the New World Translation was "not bias free", but emerged "as the most accurate of the translations compared", and thus a "remarkably good translation", adding that "most of the differences are due to the greater accuracy of the NW as a literal, conservative translation"."

From what I see of Hebrew Israelites, they are always condemning those they consider "Edomites", saying that they are going to be enslaved in the future.

Doesn't that contradict the verse that says God accepts people from every nation?

God is talking about we should not treat rich people or people with stature better than common or poor people. Thats what "respect of person" means. Hes not talking about races. God made it clear who he loves and who he hates as a race of people. Thats what you are getting confused

Malachi 1:3
And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

Isaiah 40:15
Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

Now who GOD LOVES

Exodus 19:5
Deuteronomy 14:2
Deuteronomy 26:17-19

"You have today declared the LORD to be your God, and that you would walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments and His ordinances, and listen to His voice. "The LORD has today declared you to be His people, a treasured possession, as He promised you, and that you should keep all His commandments; and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, for praise, fame, and honor; and that you shall be a consecrated people to the LORD your God, as He has spoken."

2 Samuel 7:23-24

"And what one nation on the earth is like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people and to make a name for Himself, and to do a great thing for You and awesome things for Your land, before Your people whom You have redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, from nations and their gods? "For You have established for Yourself Your people Israel as Your own people forever, and You, O LORD, have become their God.

1 Kings 8:53
1 Kings 10:9
1 Chronicles 17:20-21

"O LORD, there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears. "And what one nation in the earth is like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make You a name by great and terrible things, in driving out nations from before Your people, whom You redeemed out of Egypt?

Psalm 135:4
Isaiah 41:8
Isaiah 43:1-3

But now, thus says the LORD, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. "For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place.

Isaiah 44:21
Jeremiah 31:1-4

"At that time," declares the LORD, "I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people." Thus says the LORD, "The people who survived the sword Found grace in the wilderness-- Israel, when it went to find its rest." The LORD appeared to him from afar, saying, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.Jeremiah 46:27-28

"But as for you, O Jacob My servant, do not fear, Nor be dismayed, O Israel! For, see, I am going to save you from afar, And your descendants from the land of their captivity; And Jacob will return and be undisturbed And secure, with no one making him tremble. "O Jacob My servant, do not fear," declares the LORD, "For I am with you For I will make a full end of all the nations Where I have driven you, Yet I will not make a full end of you; But I will correct you properly And by no means leave you unpunished."

Ezekiel 36:24-28

"For I will take you from the nations, gather you from all the lands and bring you into your own land. "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.Ezekiel 37:21-25

"Say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king will be king for all of them; and they will no longer be two nations and no longer be divided into two kingdoms. "They will no longer defile themselves with their idols, or with their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. And they will be My people, and I will be their God. Joel 3:1-2

"For behold, in those days and at that time, When I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations And bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat Then I will enter into judgment with them there On behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; And they have divided up My land.

Amos 3:1-2

Hear this word which the LORD has spoken against you, sons of Israel, against the entire family which He brought up from the land of Egypt: "You only have I chosen among all the families of the earth; Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities."

Romans 11:1-2

I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?

Mark 16 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I just proved using scriptures you can't remove any verses from the bible so their explanation is horse shyt

When they knock on my door my parents sometimes answer and converse with them. I don't believe in their religion, so I just tell them i'm not interested.

shyt, my wife's mom is a JW so i'm used to it now. I look at them like any other religion. There's a lot of truth in what they're saying, but it's used to cover up a lot of bullshyt within their organizations.
