Mike did write some good songs, but let's be real, he didn't even write his biggest song.

Wtf are you talking about? His biggest song is either Billie Jean or Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, and he wrote both of those

And from Bad on he produced the bulk of his work. Even though he wasn't a musician and producer in the traditional sense, he would guide producers on his visions of song arrangements. He would literally beatbox melodies to the guys that could play the instruments. He was very much the musical genius Prince was

A track like "wanna be startin something"

Is more complex than any prince song musically

Written and composed by mj

edit-honorable mention heartbreak hotel also written and composed by michael jackson

Say that Wanna Be Startin Somethin is more complex than anything on the Lovesexy or Rainbow Children albums, brehs.

You'll also see that MJ created the beat, and the lyrics, Melody all before anyone touched an instrument to put his ideas on wax. He only needed them to play the instruments, he laid out everything for them already.

Oh, and he conceptualized his own videos.

Say that a guy making a bunch of noises with his mouth has comparable musical ability to a guy who plays a dozen instruments at a professional level, brehs.

Not true:beli:

You undermine the role the fact that prince ha bands
Who were apart of the creative process for many of his critically acclaimed albums

His bandmates helped but they would tell you themselves that it was primarily Prince's show as far as songwriting, producing, arrangement and usually instrumentation too.

Michael basically created the modern pop artist. And how the modern pop artist would ebb and flow creatively
His blueprint and signature created modern pop music and the creative approach to pop music in the first place

He and a team of about 30+ musicians, producers and record label executives created the modern pop artist. You're giving this man far too much individual credit.

mj caught people with the dance moves and flashy presentation
as it's been said he's the goat performance artist
but a musical mind like prince is just as impressive even though most would miss it

in a way they are two halves that would make one perfect artist

Big facts, two different sides of the same coin. Both amazing artists

disingenuous and insecure prince fans lieing on Mike to prop up their favorite as usual. that shyt never changes

:russ:

the fact of the matter is Michael himself actually did play several instruments too. i know he had the drums, piano & guitar, the latter of which he was credited as playing on ‘morphine’. there might have been more.

How come we aint never seen him play any of these instruments then? :stopitslime:

He might know how to noodle on a few instruments but lets not pretend MJ was shredding the axe like Prince could.

Michael was more mainstream. His music was used in commercials and in movie soundtracks. He just appealed more to a broader audience and his music was listened to by all ages of youth and young adults too. Price's music was more sexualized and appealed more to just young adults. Yes Price was more talented and a true musician but MJ was known worldwide and was known more of being an ambassador to the world.

His biggest song is Thriller. Billie Jean is iconic, but lets be real...artist still tryna get that Thriller vibe with they elaborate dancing/crazy video concepts in the videos in shyt.

Prince isn't just a "rock guy," he's a multi-instrumentalist capable of making music in almost any genre out there. It's Michael Jackson who doesn't deserve to be compared to Prince. He was an entertainer--Prince was a true musical auteur.
Prince was a feggit. Even Mike called Prince weird. You gotta be a weird mofo for Mike of all people to call you weird
