Why do people buy the same damn games every year?

My friends all laugh at me. But I buy 2k like every 3 or 4 years. I just stopped playing 2k16. I got my money’s worth

on 2K14 last gen i literally recreated the NBA from 2014-2018 lol all the rookies etc, until i got PS4 in june, (first ps4 was defected in 2016, had 2k17 on that.)

I understood that with COD because they would switch between WW2 and modern era every year but with sports games I never understood it. With the exception of a few new players every year there's really no change. If a player is traded or signs with a new team you can just make the change yourself.

Unless they made major changes with the gameplay or switched to the latest system it never made sense to me.

Its stupid. Thats why the games are lacking. Imagine if GTA came out every year. COD use to ride out for a few years now we gotta buy one every fall and its the same damn game were just buying map packs pretty much. I hope more games will go the fortnite/overwatch route and just do updates and add ons. I love how fortnite does that.

COD has perfected this con perfectly because they just put a different skin on the game cycle through them and people eat that shyt up. Next year they'll come out with a Modern Warfare 4 and people will be like "OMG we haven't gotten a modern warfare since 2011!" Then the year after that in 2020 they'll come out with Advanced warfare 2 and people will be like "we haven't had one since 2014!!"

I just saw Black Ops 4 made 500 million in 4 days.

Not to mention bug infested Madden and microtransaction filled 2K. Are people really this dumb?

Why offer an upgrade via DLC when they'll buy the same game with a DLC equivalent at full price

I can agree this sports games aren't going over and beyond for upgrading their games year in and year out. Both Madden and 2K is caters all their time with their money makers, MUT and MyPlayer. They can give 2 shyts about actual gameplay upgrades.

To me 2k doesn’t even play the same year to year.


Yearly releases thrive Mainly because the majority of those games fanbases literally only play those games.

Like a lot of cats that play 2k/Madden ain’t really gamers like that and be more excited for the regular “real life” season and that new 2k/Madden is just part of the hype.
