Why do ya'll think them cacs didn't want us voting for years? It took legislation to help us get the right and equality to vote in this country. And in 2012 we have you Uncle Tom, unappreciative ass so called African American folks shytting on voting all together. This is what the cacs want you to think and you are truly the brainwashed ones. I work for the government and I saw first hand what Obama coming into office did to help a lot of people. You never see white or latino folks on this type shyt but it's so cool to be againt the "system" in the black community until we buck it for no real reason. Do you nikkaz realize that all those civil rights laws that were passed were done by POLITICIANS WHO WERE ELECTED BY VOTERS. Scust at some of ya'll. :scusthov:

it took way more than legislative action from politicians to even bring the issue of civil rights to a topic of discussion. you're forgetting all the work organizations like the NAACP did prior to the passing of certain laws and overturning certain court cases that legalized discrimination. most of the civil rights battles took place in courts at local levels, not between the politicians. point blank: it wasn't just voting. it was a lot of marching, a lot of protesting, a lot of vocalization, a lot of black organizations mobilizing to fight for civil rights and, unfortunately, a lot of people dying. something i'm sure none of you motherfukkers are willing to do. that's what bothers me about all the advocacy for voting. truth of the matter, it isn't much in the grand scheme of things if you're not political in other ways. and especially if you only get all charged up when the presidential election rolls around...

scust at you for thinking it was all about the politicians. by the time it had gotten to the level where the matter would be voted on, most, if not all, the ground work had been laid making it damn near impossible to refute the evidence provided.

in no way shape or form am i attempting to blast local issues. if there's anything you should vote on, it's that. but everyone's getting all hype over the presidential election like it's going to make or break you and then when it comes to local shyt, everyone's silent...

good god, you call me retarded but it's obvious you didn't read any of my previous posts on the subject. just chill the fukk out with all the links and take a second and actually read what i wrote on the subject before you try to offer up your rebuttal because i'm not reposting what i've already posted about five times.

thank you for attempting to explain to me how the voting system works (as if i didn't know already). you're a fukking arrogant idiot who's more concerned with telling me what to do than actually understanding why i believe what i believe. what type of numbskull initiates a response towards someone before they actually understand what that person's position is? the answer? a fukking dumb ass.

have a good day...:childplease:

I was just putting some facts into my post, I wasn't trying to explain the
entirety of government or all the complexities that can arise in a representative system.
That's the reason I posted links in my post, so that you or anyone else who may not know something can get their knowledge up.
I didn't quote your ealier posts in this thread because this particular post caught my eye.
I also didn't call you a retard, I asked a question, one you obviously took offence too.
:ld:

I'd like to keep it simple :
YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE LIKE YOU are apart of the problem, and I can't see myself changing my feelings about it.
I'd rather be arrogant while attempting to inform myself on sh1t that will affect me,my family,my friends, my kids, their kids, my kid's kids and so on than sit on my @ss, and say sh1t like this :
Phourtay said:
you're trying to sell the idea that it's useful in my life when i've determined it isn't.and, given the fact that it's a system designed to express one's political belief, if i don't believe in the system, why would you continually try to get me to use it?

It doesn't matter what you've determined isn't useful in life.
The sh1t is molding your life as we speak !
Do you stop at red lights ? Do you drunk drive ?
Do you pay for your food instead of running off with it ?
Do you call the police when someone is acting up ?
Do you check your mailbox ?
etc.

You and everyone else (who chooses not to vote or participate in the political process in any way) actively participate in the same system process
"you don't believe in".
Government requires people that want to be governed.

Phourtay said:
not true. and there's less of a chance that participating in it will bring about change in it for the simple fact that you have to conform to the rules of the system when you decide to participate in it.

You pay taxes ! (I'm assuming) You follow Laws ! (Again I'm assuming)
So why is it so ridiculous and unreasonable to expect you to participate
in something that you fund and follow on a daily basis ?
I mean you already willingly participate in the system !

The thing that bothers me most is that participation in government shapes how our world is, yet people are convinced they can do nothing to influence the government.

Once upon a time they didn't WANT YOU VOTING.
once upon a time THEY DIDN'T WANT WOMEN VOTING.
Before that THEY DIDN'T EVEN WANT THE COMMON WHITE MAN VOTING.

People fvcking fought for this sh1t so it annoys me that people will sit there
and say some sh1t like "Why vote ? It doesn't matter" then complain that someone else gets attention or gets their demands fulfilled.

This will not change if you move to another country by the way.
Whether it's America or Switzerland, government plays a big role in your daily life and should be something you pay attention to.
Though depending on the country your ability to participate will differ.

With all of that said, I think you're a good poster breh and
I'm pretty sure most of this post won't apply to you specifically, but
it's just some sh1t I feel needs to be said.

God damn you guys are writing essays now. This is why I never talk about politics over dinner. People get emotional and shyt.

I always try to change the subject to video games or porn. Way more fun to talk about those.

They can't prove it. We have an indirect democracy where we vote for people in the electoral college who then vote for president. It is conceivable for them to make up the results since in some regions there's been reports of voting machines being rigged and such.

The message should be to vote during any election. That is I think the premise of this thread. It is always a magnified issue when the presidential election comes around but the message is the same. VOTE and VOTE and VOTE. And there are plenty of organizations fighting for things such as civil rights, abortion issues and military conflicts. It's fukked up that a lot of cats turn there nose down at most of the civil right organizations who are still in the streets marching and protesting. Do people want us to be out there like that or not? If so, then stop turning your nose down when you see a Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson or Ben Jealous when they are doing it.

Who is they?

They?

They are the "elite": A group of white haired men who sit around a large rectangular table and dictate everyones lives. Most likely their headquarters are in Switzerland. No one has even seen a member of "they" and people don't know how many members there are. They just know "they" exist. :dead:

the local governments that run the elections. we really have no proof that the numbers add up when it comes to votes. they just announce who won and we see the results on TV.

Who is to say that Will Smith isn't a government plant to keep taps on Hollywood execs? Who is to say that the slavery era never existed and was just a bunch of lies told in books to demoralize blacks. Who is to say that Hurricane Katrina was actually a Hurricane and not just a bomb set off in the ocean to cause crazy surges of water.

Why I Won't Vote
By W.E.B. Dubois, The Nation, 20 October 1956

In 1956, I shall not go to the polls. I have not registered. I believe that democracy has so far disappeared in the United States that no "two evils" exist. There is but one evil party with two names, and it will be elected despite all I can do or say. There is no third party. On the Presidential ballot in a few states (seventeen in 1952), a "Socialist" Party will appear. Few will hear its appeal because it will have almost no opportunity to take part in the campaign and explain its platform. If a voter organizes or advocates a real third-party movement, he may be accused of seeking to overthrow this government by "force and violence."

The local governments? Who in the local government? What about the opposition? The people that lost? Are they also in on it?

If niccas want to use that 20 minutes to smoke a blunt or listen to Chief Keef, just say so. It doesn't take some kind of grand conspiracy to stop niccas from voting.

I honestly feel dumber being involved in this conversation.
