They had young Tayshaun Prince at the SF position already.

Interestingly they had D-Wade going home at number 7 to Chicago. This is what was written about Darko and it has to be taken into account he was the youngest player in the draft.

The whole Melo to Detroit thing seems like some retrospect, revisionist history shyt. I think Melo stans like to wonder because his legacy would be better.

I understand that the NBA fans were really excited hosting the Hornets because of Katrina, henceforth OKC being a good place for an NBA team.


My question is do you think Seattle will ever have another basketball team because their fans were lit and loyal, plus in my generation they were always very talented. Seattle loved the Sonics, I know they have other teams but I do hope they get another NBA team.

Having him combined with Darkos Tim duncan with 3 point range hype is why

Playing for Larry Brown and a lack of opportunity for development ruined Darko. He still went on to be a decent player and pretty good defender.

I think if he got more oppurtunity to develop an offensive game early in his career that he woulda been an all star level guy.

Oden was just bad luck. If his knees werent a problem, he'd still be a factor today, even in this stretch 4/5 era.

Rudy Gobert is what Oden was supposed to be, and Oden would have been even better.

Oden was light years better than gobert.
Oden was basically domestic born embiid with real heart inside and no play play like embiid. without the idea of a jumper till his hand healed.
Yet he had a push floater jumper with his off hand that was serviceable damn near destroying cats finesse wise.

Oden barring injury was the real deal.

because every year, especially back then, execs always looking for that great white hope but they favor Euro players over Americans because they believe their skill levels are anomalies. shyt has rarely worked out. I pretty much have called every Euro bust. the only one I may have been wrong about in recent history was Luka...which I said he would be an all star level player just not an MVP level one...which we are yet to see.

I dont see how compares to Melo. I clearly remember before the draft and during their rookie seasons, there was chatter and debate about who was or would be better melo or bron. If I was exec, I'd take Melo...but if you want to justify Pistons drafting for need, thats the only leg to stand on because clearly on draft boards Melo was the best player available even if Wade and Bosh did turn out to have better careers. Kaman was better, but even though he was German, NBA execs have weird obsession with Euro league players coming to the league.

Look at top two picks in recent years like Bennett, MKG, Parker, Simmons, Fultz, etc....NONE of them accomplished what Melo did in college. thats not saying Melo couldnt bust but what it does say is that NO ONE would have looked at Melo as the 1st pick of the draft if no Bron or the 2nd pick after Bron as a bad pick. wouldve been 110% justifiable. I mean who really thought that Darko was better than Melo at that time besides some dumb exec looking to strike gold with some euro cac? hype is the key word, especially when pertaining to Euro leagers. they come every draft and bust like a mf. Vesely, Saric, the kid they called the white Harrison Barnes

yes but at least Morrison was American and killing it in college. whats worse was Bargnani going 1st in that draft. terrible draft I know but the logical picks that year were Aldridge and Tyrus Thomas. no one was going to pick Roy because he was ancient by NBA exec standards. but yeah....if that was all Dumars then cotdamn.
