You mean like all these christian fundamentalist who have tried to stop schools from teaching the theory of evolution, has tried to halt progress of stem cell research? You mean like how Galileo was sentenced to house arrest for this theory of Heliocentriscism?

The catholic church alone destroyed tons of scientific info during the dark ages, along with persecuting those who went against it's teachings. Many books, and other countless research was burned to suppress knowledge. Many times, reading and writing, or even questioning was considered blaspheme, and was often a crime punishable by death.

People won’t realize how important the church was before it’s too late. You think politicians ain’t hearing black folks out now wait till the churches leave our community. Every other group don’t give the churches within their community such a hard time like we do. We don’t understand how building a community works and what huge roles churches play in that development. A lot of these people are so anti black church with NO solutions or answers if the black church ends. People really don’t know the history of it if they did they’d know it’s way more than just church.

Bruh fukk the church for what it represents. It's pure fukking lies and is harmful to the black community to keep people believing in these lies and keep settling cause god and warefare and food stamps got them. Maybe we just need to hold social meetings, the church hasn't done one productive thing for the advancement of black people since MLK.

The 48th Anniversary of the Selma Jubilee concluded last week. For those who are not aware, the anniversary is significant as it marks the day when peaceful protesters were attempting to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge leaving Selma, AL and heading into highway 80. The scene shocked the nation and has been indicated as one of those seminal historic events as it was one critical event which helped persuade President Johnson to sign the 1965 Voting Rights act.

The event featured many speakers. Among them was the legendary Rev., Dr. Jeremiah Wright. He was part of a panel fielding various questions and one lady was asking about the role of the church. Dr. Wright unabashedly recanted that most would be surprised, “Let me say it this way………Dr. Keri Day of Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth, Texas recently published a book which documents the period Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was planning the “Poor People’s” campaign that ONLY 13% OF BLACK CHURCHES supported him!!!”

Thats cause those groups attend their own schools and hospitals. Our people stopped doing that. Once again, that’s not the Black Churches fault that’s ours. We had our own schools and boarding schools being funded by the black church and what happened when desegregation took place? How is that the Black Churches fault? People left the church and went running into white daddies arms started going to his hospitals, his schools, having their 5 start talent kids play at his colleges and pump revenue and exposure into everyone else’s communities except theirs.

These churches had to cut these off cause Black people stopped using them. There’s still plenty of schools being funded by Black Churches. We send our kids to play sports at these private schools and generate billions for them. Black Churches still out here funding HBCU’s and giving out endowments yearly. Sometimes more than alumni.

Young people don't attend old school houses of worship, but they are following youtube celebs and podcasts as religiously as their parents attended service.

the concept of church is not the issue...its the losers from the surrounding communities that infiltrated and ruined the church bc of their selfish agendas...all the homos and greedy money hungry showing off for other black folk judgmental nggas ruined the church...I still go sometimes and just avoid those types...focus on your owm relationship with God and dnt let the other losers in the church affect you

all of this is true, but since the church held so much power in our community just a few decades ago i put the blame directly on the olders who sold out. this is the consequence of turning your religious institutions away from its original intended purposes. they created a vacuum and everyone benefits, except us of course.

America has lost of lot of its religion in recent years. Our (identity) politics are our religion now.

I don't care about the religion side as much but I definitely see less black musicians and singers now days and I think that's related to the dropoff in church.

It's boring, makes you feel guilty, faith based when people want facts now, parents ain't forcing us to go anymore etc...

Anyway in the last days more people are supposed to turn away from God, that's how it's supposed to be and we may suffer for it in the end but it is what it is.
