Right....thats because rappers started to reflect the ethos of the record execs who pimp them --- the 1%. The one percent gathers a lot of its strength from having things that the 99% doesnt have...and if you have something of value, they'll take it from you. Its pleasure at the expense of another's discomfort or pain.
They're not happy if you're happy. Its funny how they chide the audience as being "haters", when most top rappers act like the ultimate insecure haters.
You can say the same about hip-hop fans. The more successful you appear, the more hip-hop fans feel they can no longer relate to you. There's a big chunk of hip-hop fans that feel like hip-hop is only about your struggle, so once you've passed the struggle and become successful, you almost have nothing left to say, so when you're at that point, they'd rather listen to another struggling rapper or see if you'll talk about some other ill of the world. The big reason why many of these rappers are loathed now is because they arrive on the scene as if they're already successful. ex. A$AP Rocky would get more props rapping about hoping he can be a trendsetter than rapping about already being one.
