When you listen to a song, you're supposed to put yourself in the perspective of the rapper. It's like when you watch porn, and you replace the guy with yourself mentally. :ehh:

So, it's not "this rapper is taking my girl :to:" it's "I'm taking your girl:stylin:"

Does that make sense to you? :ld:

So when Biggie said

You look so good, I'll suck on your daddy's dikk

Where did you mentally place yourself in that scenario?

:ld:

:myman:

Why would you listen to a rapper if you don't relate to how they view the world, right? :manny:

Actually I listen to plenty of rappers that have general views I disagree with..But I get your point about rappers being hood motivational speakers that want you to place yourselves in their fantasies..

My girl hates rap :win:

She just tells you that

:lawd: great reply, lol.

But yeah, hip hop definitely shifted from celebrating personal accomplishments, and in collaboration with that attempting to inspire the listener, to deriving pleasure from the downfall of its audience. In the past 10 or so years its been about how superior the rapper is to the listener in every way imaginable, and also how the rapper has the resources and the ability to take the possessions from the audience at the mere snap of a finger. They're the predators, we're the pray. Once hip hop became popularized, it began to take its cues from the society at large, which is self-loathing and bows to celebrity and fame. As a collective we deify celebrity and feel like we arent worthy.

You're being too literal. It's more about the attitude and general outlook on life.

That's something anybody can relate to, even if you're not draped in Euro-trash clothes and diamonds in an executive sedan. You might feel the same way the rapper is describing. :mjpls:

Or if you are draped in Euro-trash clothes and diamonds in an executive sedan, and you're not sitting on a stoop with a 40oz freezing your balls... Once again, you might feel the same way the rapper is describing. :mjpls:

Art is all about evoking emotions. You don't have to literally relate to it for it to be effective :ehh:
