Word. Dude from ND a couple years back, Jeff Samarjsomething, did that. Sure he's made at least double what he would have made in football

actually jeff smzarjzjia would have been a 1st round pick in the NFL with some decent guarunteed money. but the money dude's making for the cubs as an average starting pitcher shyts all over what he would get in the NFL. not to mention he's not taking a beating and risking concussions. sounds like a no-brainer to me.

It's all about economics, not these bullshyt sociologist theories of fathers not being there and other nonsense.

breh... i disagree

if the sport was appealing to young urban black youth -the economics or lack there of wouldnt even matter
the shyt is just boring to us

but if ur looking for a more technical answer...
its baseball itself
-the game gets its pride from history
-selling it brand on its pastime
-lack of developing its superstars
-seem not interested in evolving
etc..etc...

cause baseball got boring...end of story. way too many games. I force myself to try to watch it...but when ya hometeam was the orioles coming up their losing ways are hard to watch and we made camden yards with a low wall to hit home runs, lol.

fans go to games just to get drunk and eat food....it's a hangout spot. I'm 27 and I barely know hardcore baseball fans....I know tailgaters that like to have fun, haha.
So is MSG

The end result of MLB pulling away from the black community is what your detailing. I'm explaining the root cause.

The same EXACT thing is happening currently in Puerto Rico.

The head of Puerto Rico's sports said the same thing about MLB having no interest in PRican players has opened the door to young possible players now being interested in other sports. PUERTO RICO!!

The same shyt happened in the U.S.

You had the Reds who signed 18 players alone from the city of Oakland back in 1964. Those same scouts later went to the Caribbean and stopped searching for black ball players. So our interest went to other sports. The same thing happened in Puerto Rico when they fell under U.S. commonwealth rules and had to be paid similar to American players. So you know what MLB did? They left and went to the DR and elsewhere....so LIKE BLACK AMERICANS, Puerto Rican youth are no longer interested in baseball because baseball lost interest in them.

There are only 12 puerto rican baseball players in the majors.

It's all about economics, not these bullshyt sociologist theories of fathers not being there and other nonsense.
Hold off on PR. In just the last couple of years they're making major strides towards getting things straightened out. The WBC did so much just for their pride. Now they're competing better in Winter League, kids are getting seen. PR's slowly recovering

Because MLB reinvested in there. Still doesn't change the fact that it slipped and even the head of Puerto Rican sports said kids were finding interest in other sports because of MLBs decline in interest.

PR players are now taken from the draft unlike the other Caribbean countries where the players can be signed as free agents. The incentives for PR players are not seen as big as the ones for the rest of the Caribbean countries who right away can make an impact on an MLB team.

It's all about economics

That still doesn't mean that kids in PR don't fukk with baseball. Baseball is ingrained in Caribbean culture; it's not going to fade away that easily.

No....the president of sports there said less kids are fukking win baseball and playing other sports my dude.

YES......they're less of them fukking with it....and it's 100% tied to MLB losing interest in PR players sMe way they did to us here.

Of course it's economics. It all boils down to money. MLB is one giant sweatshop when you think about it. The cheaper I can sign you, the more I'll check for more there. That's why MLB lobbied for everyone to be eligible for the draft like in the NBA. The buying out of arbitration is gonna help as far as feeling like you have to wait years before you're paid.

Also, tons of corruption in PR caused even the OG's to say "fukk it"

Which is why I hate people thinking it's about us losing interest. Bullshyt. It was MLB losing interest in us. Of COURSE the sport is going to look boring to kids that's never played it now and are completely removed from the game. I don't care about that symptom niqqas keep repeating.....but I don't want to hear people telling me I'm wrong about the root cause for it.

Baseball was the biggest black business in this country's history at one time. You just don't lose interest. It's no different than integration....put the game or our businesses in someone else's hands, and it turns out worse.

Most of these athletes come from poor backgrounds. You're god damn right I'd want instant gratification if I came up with nothing and had a chance at millions right In front of me. Why do people keep using that term as if it's a bad thing? Sound like some cac shyt to me.
Tell that shyt to Cano. He was making pennies before he made the Show. Now he's a superstar, got an extension, and now got $240 mil. Meaning, he can be 41, :flabbynsick: and a loser and still make $24 mil

well im not too sure about that
due to blacks being 16% in the 70's

so... i dont think they left us
i think its more like they(baseball) stayed / remained in that era -while we evolved
