Why are few African Americans playing professional baseball?

cause baseball got boring...end of story. way too many games. I force myself to try to watch it...but when ya hometeam was the orioles coming up their losing ways are hard to watch and we made camden yards with a low wall to hit home runs, lol.

fans go to games just to get drunk and eat food....it's a hangout spot. I'm 27 and I barely know hardcore baseball fans....I know tailgaters that like to have fun, haha.

It may be boring to watch to the causal fan but there a big fun factor difference between watching baseball and playing baseball.

It's like hat in any sport really. Watching ain't the same as playin it.

My lil brother said the same thing about soccer and I told him to give it a try and if he does I'll buy him the year he needs to play it. That lil nigguh taxed the fukk outta my pockets but he still plays it and loves playin it. He casually watches it though.

A lotta of time dudes don't get the support they need to play somethin foreign to their hobbies. I always push ppl to try somethin new. Strive to be unique/ different. Strive to stick out.

Baseball is not interested in black players because it is so easy for them to get a 16 year old kid from the D.R....have him pan out to be a star, make millions on his jersey and him filling stadiums....meanwhile he can't even ENTER arbitration until his 6th year...

I'd also add that in the poor areas many blacks come from that it's way easier to buy a cheap basketball for 10 bucks at a local toy store and go hoop it up at the park then it is to buy a glove, baseball, bat, etc and find others interested in play a game not considered to be cool to most blacks.

how do we change that

I was riding by Madison High School down here in Houston a few days ago and the kids were on the field playing baseball. the field was in such bad shape. grass was high as hell and the dirt looked to be clumped up. about 50 yards over was the football field. mind you, its late February, early March, and the field was clean and cut and taken care of.

basically, we have to show these kids to give a fukk but that's hard to do when most of us don't give a fukk about the sport ourselves. you think most inner city parents know about guaranteed contracts? I'll bet they don't.

In the NBA & NFL, once you are in the pros at around age 21 -- you get the big payday. In MLB, most times you have to slowly climb through the minors where you don't make as much money. It's an instant-gratification world we live in now.

Most of these athletes come from poor backgrounds. You're god damn right I'd want instant gratification if I came up with nothing and had a chance at millions right In front of me. Why do people keep using that term as if it's a bad thing? Sound like some cac shyt to me.

Baseball participation is down across the entire spectrum. Not nearly as many kids who play multiple sports anymore and lacrosse has gained a lot of popularity over the past 15 years or so, which competes with baseball in the spring season.

4. A lot of black males mindset think u can have more glamour and fame plus the females love football and basketball players

Probably one of the most reasons is there isn't black baseball leagues in the hood. the black baseball players u see today majority come from areas where baseball opportunities was there growing up especially in high schools
