not really....the number of jobs in the nba and nfl has been pretty static for a while....what i mean is that there arent new teams being added to the leagues. so what growth are you speaking of? players dont care about tv contracts or team revenue.

IMO it isnt cool to play baseball anymore....and the number of pee-wee leagues is almost non-existent in our communities. if i could do it all again, i wouldve concentrated on baseball :patrice:

I agree 100%....this is a result of MLB no longer cultivating our interest around the game and the pipeline between black players and going into MLB ended once scouts left.

Which is why I hate people thinking it's about us losing interest. Bullshyt. It was MLB losing interest in us. Of COURSE the sport is going to look boring to kids that's never played it now and are completely removed from the game. I don't care about that symptom niqqas keep repeating.....but I don't want to hear people telling me I'm wrong about the root cause for it.

.
But doesn't it go both ways? Like a "fukk me? Nah fukk you baseball" kinda thing? At least that's the way I look at it. :yeshrug:

Word. Dude from ND a couple years back, Jeff Samarjsomething, did that. Sure he's made at least double what he would have made in football

actually jeff smzarjzjia would have been a 1st round pick in the NFL with some decent guarunteed money. but the money dude's making for the cubs as an average starting pitcher shyts all over what he would get in the NFL. not to mention he's not taking a beating and risking concussions. sounds like a no-brainer to me.

:mindblown: I haven't heard his name in years.
I had no idea he was their Opening Day starter last year.

Well....I'm sure of it. This isn't some "well I think" bs. I KNOW MLBs once strong relationship to the black community left us for greener and cheaper imports....so did our interest. Baseball once strong relationship left Puerto Rico for greener can cheaper imports....and so did their interest....and you're going to tell me it's a "coincidence" and not economics? :childplease:
we agree to disagree
if nikkaz are into something they'll find some way or some how to be involved
when reaggonomics hit the inner city -stripping music & arts from our schools
it didnt stop us from using empty buckets to play drums on / cardboards to dance on / trains to paint on

but i will agree with ur economics part of finding cheaper labor
BUT it backfired on them in the worst way
baseball powers to be & its purist had to know that doing this is -would slowly destroy the game their so dearly love
baseball is brand as america game -like apple pie (how can they sell that to the people when 1/2 the league dosnt speak english)

You think its a coincidence that a lack of interest in baseball by blacks and puerto ricans 100so of miles away leaving with MLB leaving is a coincidence???

Umm....that's what I've been saying. That's not a both ways thing....it's the job of a business to court and invest in potential employees.

the inner cities can bring it back, would definitely require organization, some good donors and a platform to spread the word

Cuz most young black males these days look at baseball as a boring ass cac sport and have no interest whatsoever in watching, learning or playing it

More or less this is the answer right here. Baseball lost its cache within the black community. I think the madden culture had a lot to do with drawing black people away from baseball.

Yes you can. Their interest disappeared with MLB's disinterest in them.

You think its a coincidence the same thing happened with blacks? :dahell:

You nailed it.

I'd also add that in the poor areas many blacks come from that it's way easier to buy a cheap basketball for 10 bucks at a local toy store and go hoop it up at the park then it is to buy a glove, baseball, bat, etc and find others interested in play a game not considered to be cool to most blacks.

Naw....my dad and his social cohorts from that era always wax nostalgic over playing "stickball", and how that led to them developing a love for baseball. How many black kids do you see playing stickball nowadays...and that game is dirt cheap, so economics doesnt factor into it much.

The game of baseball doesn't change as it goes along. It doesn't need to. If you have to keep changing what it is you do in a sport, then your sport is never gonna reach a good enough comfort level (since not every change is a good one)

:dahell:

the NFL changes like every fukking year !!!
it continues to evolve for the betterment of the game

inwhich is 1 of the reasons its by far the number 1 game in the country

Oh... I didn't know that's where you've been going with it. :heh: been busy with patients since noon.

But yeah. I agree 100%. Can't expect for us to invest in it if they don't won't to invest in us.
