I addressed it in my post, or at least my theories on such. Black women are more likely than black men to have custody of children (a motivating and inspiring factor against suicidal thoughts), and are more likely as women to have deeper relationships with friends or family to talk about their issues. My overall idea rests on social isolation, which is more prevalent for males than females which may account for the difference in suicide rates.

My apologizes,I just skimmed the post and didn't fully read it my bad bruh. Great point by the way.

In my house hold my mom was expected to support my father not everyone in the hood and all family members by herself.

Maybe i used the wrong word. But monique i would say has high self esteem and embraces being big. Then but out being big is good. Then why she always tryna loose weight? How can big and lazy people talk about people who are in shape? They telling themselves that bs. Dont put words in my mouth from now on please.

What in my post lead you to believe that i dont look for support from my mom. Smh if my pops supports me and my mom support him than she supports me. She doenst nee to support the hood.

I say lower class cause this string black women stuff while in welfear with mitiple baby daddies is low class. Thats were this "strong black women " stuff started. My moms had a job before i was born and the same job today. Even went back to school at an older age to make more money.. Not once have i heard her say she got all this stuff in her shoulders. And thats why shes strong.

I think she stong cause she held done the womens place in the household. And didnt put herself in positions (welfare, being broke, choosing the wrong man) where it called for her to be "strong".

My mom tries to defend these young broads and i gotta check her and tell her they aint come from where you from. These broads is a different breed.

The bolded is what lead me to believe that.
What was the purpose of any of your posts?
Because it seems that you just came to brag about growing up "privileged"and to demonized underprivileged women because nothing you've said has made any sense nor does it tie into the point of this thread.
You and poitier need to join forces and create another thread about welfare if that's all you came to talk about.

It's not humor that's really how you view Black American women.
Or else you wouldn't have dedicated countless post dedicated to welfare.
You're supposedly a grown ass man, I'm gonna need for you to keep it real and stop trying to hide behind this "troll" persona.

Aint nothing sad about the condition that Blacks are in 2014. Truth too harsh?

You hopping all over the places because you don't have a point, and you loathe Black American women just admit it and stop with the b.s. I was just trolling shyt.
If you are so concerned with the state of the Black family in 2014 going into 2015, tell ya brehs to step their game up right along with the women. Trying to downplay black women's accomplishments just makes you look dumb. Stop being jealous of women bruh you making you self look bad. Use that envy as motivation.

Great job :obama:
Looks at lack of Black male leaders, great job.
Seeing as how black men and women are going to college now more than ever, I'd say we are well on our way.
Instead of being the leaders of the he- man woman haters tribe, maybe you should strive to be the leader of a Black American family.
Oh I forgot, you'd rather run to another ethnic/ racial group while your coward ass talks shyt on the internet about Black American woman and their accomplishments right? Foh

Its going to take more than going to White colleges.

And I will marry and build with a Black woman.

But sure, claim valid criticism is misogyny brehette.

i come at this from a different angle
i am on my laptop-so this is from memory

there was a study of coping resources
99% sure this was main publication
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8300870

i believe it was five categories
  • physical
  • spiritual (or "philosophical' for non-religious)
  • emotional
  • cognitive
  • social
we each have our preferences
also in absolute scale- some people have stronger/better/more coping mechanisms than others
for instance, i have above average overall (as measured by a test)
physical = high, social and cognitive = above average
but the other two are pretty weak for me

what does this make me good at??
and where does it leave me vulnrable??
sometimes life hands you a problem that can't be-
exercised away, talked out, or rationalized away
then what?? (for someone like myself)

now imagine the military- enlisted people on frontline
holding a gun, not a support worker
what coping mechanisms would this self-selected group possess?
probably not the stuff needed to cope with ptsd

the same could be said about ex-athletes killing themselves (NFL in particular)

think about it- if you wanted to be as non-suicidal as possible
which of those five coping categories would you choose to draw from??
cognitive coping might even be pro-suicide (in case of debilitating ailments or fear of being tortured to death)
social coping might be problematic if your situation is shameful or criminal in nature
physical coping could also be counterproductve if being in bad health is part of the problem

i am not an expert, have never been suicidal myslef
just some food for thought

have it harder?:what:
If you keep questioning it then you must have another group In mind.

I'm still waiting on ya'll to tell me how black women have so hard. The burden on proof is on ya'll.

Again; I'm not operating in polarity. It's not either the worst or easy street.

This thread suggest they have it the worst. I disagree. It's intellectually dishonest to suggest; I think they have it easy--as if there is no middle ground.

You believe it, firmly. You should be able to present an explanation.
