@kayslay

I say black women aren't the least supported, 2nd most targeted group in America and that translates to "they have it easy"?

Dawg, those are some lofty claims for a group accomplishing as much as black women, in America.

They don't have it easy, but, it's not that (keyword) bad.

I'm not even editing any of my post. Ya'll are thinking emotionally.

I don't understand it.

So you really want me to apologize for the success my sister's are having?
Once again if black women have it so easy who has it harder and who supports black women besides other black women?
When have you supported a black women that wasn't a relative?
What did you support?
When was the last time?

Are you a man? Are you a black man?

I'll throw in my two cents.

Im a stats freak, so Im very much into numbers patterns and what to make of them when relevant to something. Blacks have a much higher homicide frequency rate than whites --- a fact everyone on the internet knows if you've visited any message board with white people around, but what gets much less attention relative to its societal problem is that in raw numbers suicides more than DOUBLE that of homicides, and of those suicides whites are twice as likely to commit suicide as an aggregate than blacks.

If we were to look at this pattern in a reductionist way, blacks often express anger towards others, while whites injure within.

Also, from what I can remember about studies Ive read there is a sort of suicide zone where the bulk of them occur in the mountain west areas --- states like Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, and within those borders. This suggests that the isolation that comes with sparsely populated living areas contributes to suicidal tendencies. Makes sense. The composite profile of a suicide candidate is middle aged, white, and single. I think black women who live in the city have greater networks and support systems to tap into when need be. They have kids to keep them engaged and motivated. Plus being women, there isnt a social stigma of hitting up their girlfriend and having a good cry over whatever issues ail them. A support sometimes unavailable to men. We are social beings, and its very important to have someone.

And also suicide begets suicide. If suicide runs in your family or social circle...guess what? It comes tangible, and rational. For blacks suicide isnt really a *thing* like it is for whites.

I could go on, but just a little food for thought to broaden the discussion.
My only question is....What does that have to do with Black Women?

Dude, get off the defensive. I at no point said they "have it easy."

Never. Not once. You can't quote me suggesting so.

I'm highlighting their achievements. They're doin' real well.

And I'm still waiting on the statistical, researched proof that black women are the most downtrodden group of people--as the poster I was quotin' (not you) intitially stated.

Neither you, @Elle Driver nor @Theraflu have come wit it.

Don't try to play me like I'm not going back and forth with these knuckle heads for all this mess they throw at BW, everyday, on this board.

I didn't miss it. He doesn't know what point he is trying to make.
So because our ancestors had higher graduation rates and college degrees does that mean they had it easier than we did?
Miss his point :snoop:

Why do y'all insist on making this a gender war. then when black women respond we are labeled Nazi feminist?

And if I miss the point drive it home. Tell me what am I missing here?

are you on sherm?:ld:

I don't do drugs.
I'm just honestly trying to understand what is your point. What are you trying to convey here? That black women are some kind of privileged minority?
That we have outside support from groups other than our fellow black women?
That black men support us?
What are you reall refuting?

No shade, you bring up the suicide and homicides rates of Black and white men and I was just curious how that ties in to black women and the low suicide rate?

I addressed it in my post, or at least my theories on such. Black women are more likely than black men to have custody of children (a motivating and inspiring factor against suicidal thoughts), and are more likely as women to have deeper relationships with friends or family to talk about their issues. My overall idea rests on social isolation, which is more prevalent for males than females which may account for the difference in suicide rates.

I NEVER PUT WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH! I ASKED YOU A QUESTION.
what are you talking about the "hood"? I'm talking about close friends and immediate family members.
You're trying to make this a class issue when this is more of a cultural/racial thing.
So you and your sibling didn't look to you mom for support only your father?
What in my post lead you to believe that i dont look for support from my mom. Smh if my pops supports me and my mom support him than she supports me. She doenst nee to support the hood.

I say lower class cause this string black women stuff while in welfear with mitiple baby daddies is low class. Thats were this "strong black women " stuff started. My moms had a job before i was born and the same job today. Even went back to school at an older age to make more money.. Not once have i heard her say she got all this stuff in her shoulders. And thats why shes strong.

I think she stong cause she held done the womens place in the household. And didnt put herself in positions (welfare, being broke, choosing the wrong man) where it called for her to be "strong".

My mom tries to defend these young broads and i gotta check her and tell her they aint come from where you from. These broads is a different breed.
