Why are AA's the only group in the diaspora who are told get in tune with their culture?

I still don’t get why AAs are so disrespected. I rarely see them attack anyone and have been through shyt over generations. I have nothing but respect to AAs and Haitians for the shyt they’ve had to endure at the hands of cacs.

Other groups will attack them as soon as AAs reply with even the slightest venom then everyone is upset :gucci:

No one wants to feel indebted for being allowed to immigrate here and enjoy privileges trailblazed by AAs so its easier to dehumanize us.
This, and we ourselves don't acknowledge /guard our culture the way we should; which is pretty much what everyone else does!!
That's why this new: 'Afram, D.o.s,
H. y. o. n, ect. wave isn't that far off the mark, despite what others say.. It's what they've been doing all along!!
Our insecurity and need to be validated; inclusive to a fault has cost us tremendously, as others have simply taken advantage of it for personal gain, and ran with it. Thus not showing the proper respect, and appreciation that they should.

Exactly.

But this thread was not made with the intent of actual constructive dialogue.

The non AAs on here like to make these threads knowing they will eventually devolve and then use that to paint themselves as victims against the evil AAs.

Also, OP is being disingenuous.

This topic has been done ad nauseam.

Ironically, all of these diaspora threads that devolve are started by non AAs.

Pray tell.....how exactly am I being disingenuous here? :jbhmm:

The positive aspects of American culture are heavily laden with AA contributions. For being 12% of the population, we're extremely potent...almost like pouring a couple of shots of 190-proof Everclear in a small glass of orange juice.

Many immigrants only learn what "others" teach them about America. It's not until they get here that they actually learn how things REALLY are. We don't control the media, so most 1st-generation Americans have a very skewed perspective of what being AA represents. Frankly, anything Native American or AA is probably outside the scope of what most Asian and African immigrants are taught unless they go out of their way to seek the knowledge.

A lot of that has to do with how unique our experience has been. We weren't miscegenated like the Latino nations. We weren't the majority of the population like most of the Caribbean nations. We were forced to start our own shyt from scratch and pushed to the fringe of society at the same time. I think that's where the need for validation comes from becuz we've done so much with so little

This is thread 10000000 on this very subject.

There is the literally hashtag #AAgang born out of this very topic.

Use the search function.

But that was not your intention with this thread.

I haven't seen any threads with this specific topic, if you have links feel free to share them

And how are you going to try and tell me what my intention is? I'm not one of the poster on here who has a history of making divisive diasporic threads or is generally involved in them :camby:

It's ironic that you're the only one being divisive thus far in this thread.

AAs are seen as not African enough...

Like we are just the facsimile of White people... but have Black skin.

And it doesn't help that AAs and Americans in general see shyt like food and music as "culture" which it's not, those are cultural products made for mass consumption and exchange.

When people see you...as nothing but the group of people that put seasoning on their food and they can dance and sing really good...then you gonna be treated as such and you gonna feel as such.

AA's need to look to WEB Dubois, David Walker and Frederick Douglass as the root of Black American culture instead of looking to fukking Michael Jackson, Oprah and Jay Z.

Every other group in the America, when it comes down to their culture, they look towards their philosophical and political leader.

They don't think about their food and music...

So yeah, AA's have a culture problem, we don't know what it is.

Culture isn't how you wear your hair, or what you eat or the music you listen to, it is how you view the world. Everything else is cultural products for sell and exchange.

Asians have Confucius, Western Europeans got Aristotle and Plato...who do African Americans point to, to represent their intellectual and philosophical heritage?
