He's right though when he says AA need to be more open with soccer.Think about all the short brehs who are 5'6''-5'11'' who are skilled as hell at B-ball with tight handles and shooting strokes but, won't make the league, unless they really bust their ass like IT and Nate Robinson. Even skilled guards in this draft like Sexton and Trae are questioned if they are going to make it in the league due to their height and size. With soccer they won't have to worry about their height limiting them and their skills will be more focused on, dudes are missing out on good opportunities when it comes to soccer.

true but it won't be happening anytime soon because it's seen as a suburban cac sport. See -> Soccer mom - Wikipedia

The 3 Michael's are universal. Yall really don't understand how big they were.

If we played soccer today, tomorrow we'd win the fifa Cup.
USA didn’t even qualify for the WC and they are years behind in youth development.

Mexico has a better chance at winning the WC first before the USA does.

Just because LeBron is the most gifted basketball player there ever has been doesn’t mean he would be a beast in football. I think the only basketball player that would do well in football is Steve Nash and then again he’s not from the US.

And that’s the problem :heh:

Go to Africa and you’ll see everybody kicking around a football.

You might see a few shooting hoops but I doubt anyone will be throwing an American football around.

I hope 2026 changes Americans minds. Specially since that World Cup will have 48 teams. I hope T&T and Jamaica make it to that WC. I would love to go to Flatbush to watch those games.

And hopefully DR makes it too to see them fine DR bytches :takedat:

It’ll be a while but when this country truly embraces the game it’ll be amazing

I already explained why plus that Soccer is to 3rd worlders what baseball is to dominicans and puerto ricans, long distance running is to kenyans/horners, basketball is to aframs and track is to jamaicans/other west indians

Somebody on another board made this point that Black Americans are the only black people in the world that does not really care for the game. To most Africans, soccer/football is the number one sport. Same with those in South America and the Caribbean islands.

I was thinking this exact same thing. Messi is listed as 5’7 and Neymar at 5’9 but they’re superstars. Ronaldo is 6’1 and would be short for an nba player. I’ve taught some freakishly athletic kids who were only focused on football/basketball but they would be perfect for soccer, however their schools usually don’t even have teams. It’s crazy.

The resources aren't properly allocated like they are in youth basketball, baseball and football. USA Basketball does a great job of identifying young talent that has the potential to be superstar talent at the next level because of how organized the basketball scene is here.

I remember reading an absurd stat after US lost to Trinidad that there was 1 scout for every state. How can you properly identify the next generation of stars when you can't spend enough time evaluating? Gulati dropped the ball during his tenure as President of US Soccer.

The Pulisic's and Weah's are anomalies. They're young and not of the typical US route.
