So teams considered themselves world champions :jbhmm:

Some do, some don’t

But I’m saying I don’t think the league officially calls them that

Also for the record I’m fine with banners just saying the NBA champions, I don’t really think it’s that big of a deal

Why even bring this up though? Did an NBA nikka say some slick shyt? It's a random ass point to make and it's not even correct. The best players from all over the world come to play in the NBA.

No point in bringing this up other than to go viral and he a bytch for that :camby:

And big mad NBA players fell for it. Even players who never even were NBA Champs themselves :mjlol:

Want to add whoever idea this was deserves a RAI$E, Didnt see Lyles race even on espn front page when he won 100m 200m, but his name was on story for first take, NY post, CNN, USA Today, NPR, LA times, People Magazine, Platinum plus on Coli, etc. He created more clicks and engagement than his races could for himself, people who didnt know him do now, just for simple comment that made people talk. The amount of views generated on social media, whether Youtube, IG, tiktok was probably in millions. This was a masterclass.

I remember watching race and checking his IG and being like wow he has low 400k followers, he is now closing in on 500k, this week alone will increase his IG followers by 100k plus. I know some might not realize or think its not a big deal but that is MAJOR. And it also has nothing to do with this "debate" lol.. This is awesome for sport.. Salute to the kid :salute:

Orgs doing that for their fans are orgs doing that. The NBA isn’t saying that
Oh okay. So NBA teams are doing it, and we should ignore that. Copy. I am sure the fans who see those banners in their arena are sending emails to the NBA saying their teams are using the incorrect terminology.

Also, its interesting that now the argument is, "The NBA isn't saying it," while early there was a passionate position that Lyles was wrong and NBA teams are world champions. :patrice:

Maybe the NBA need to do a better job of telling organizations not to do it. But the NBA doesn’t call their finals champions, world champions.

You admitting Lyles' is right and the NBA teams aren't world champions is cool with me. :hubie:

No, I’m not. If there’s anything that I know, stern was careful of, is the perception of the NBA around the world. Even in presenting the 2013 finals champs, he talked about their global impact while at the same time not calling them world champs.

Teams do that shyt locally for their fans

You just did admit and you are saying the NBA admits it too.

Some how the players and the fans don't see that, but Lyles has got you on his side.

Im speaking on teams hanging up banners in their arenas. Again…the league itself doesnt call the winners world champions. Beyond those wack banners, thats not how they are presented

I don’t really care whether they call themselves world champs or not

But this hand wringing of “How dare the Nuggets say they’re the world champs if they haven’t beat the Euroleague champs or the Brazilian league champs” is ridiculous. We don’t need to see that to know what the real is and we all know it. This all boils down to semantics over a title
