1) We don't know the quality of the teams those international teams put out there. We don't know because its also preseason for those international teams and none of us follow international club basketball that closely.
2) The NBA team would win.
3) That is not Lyle's point.

Lyle's point is put them in a tournament together and let them play in a competition. The NBA teams would always win, no doubt, but why not try it? In 1996, we thought USA NBA players would never lose in international competition, and that isn't the case anymore.

You have to be a different level of obtuse to argue against this very simple and logical point (that the rest of the world agrees with by the way).

Par the course for dumb ass confident Americans though :mjlol:

“The competition oversaw further name changes to NBA World Championship Series from 1950 to 1985, as well as a brief stint as the Showdown, before settling on NBA Finals in 1986..”

They were still on CBS when they called it the world championships

Yall arguing simply to argue about something that changed almost 40 years ago. Before Noah was born. It hasn’t been called the world championships in his life time.

I dont get it.

It is silly for US based leagues to declare their champions 'World Champions' even if they have the best players.:yeshrug:

Champion League winners are called Champions League winners even if they have the best players playing in that tournament.

Olympic winners are called Olympic Gold medalist.

To Noah's point, winners in the World Championships event rightfully should be called World Champions.

But, America gonna 'murica' :skip:

The NBA finals have not been called the world championship finals since 86. To Noah’s point… He’s wrong.

So his point is a semantical one .. i.e. meaningless

“You can only call yourself world champions if only the organizing body calls itself the world championship” :mjlol:

This is the most trite …ignorant shyt I’ve heard in a minute

What’s the value in calling yourself a world champion if it’s not to denote your competence on a global scale against equally skilled adversaries regardless of organization

:russ: Another sign of narcissistic personality disorder.

How do you know I have no idea about how American sport & system work? American indoctrination based on American exceptionalism (a figment of American imagination) utopia is almost as bad as North Korea’s - the only difference is that North Korea uses authoritarian suppression while America uses social engineering & media propaganda. Same shyt, different toilets.

You can’t declare yourself as ‘World Champ’ without competing with the rest of the world.

Follow Noah Lyles’ lead - he sounds like the most exposed American in the room right now & he has made himself a global brand. That’s my nikka - the fastest man in the world.

Salute to Noah Lyles! :salute:

I know nothing at all about soccer, don’t ask me about relegation, transferring, the EPL, super leagues, none of that. I stay the fukk out of things I have no knowledge base on. That’s what intelligent people do. Shut up and learn something

You’re obtuse to not understand what a worldwide draft is. Did you think the NBA draft is only Americans and they just sign euros like baseball players go to the islands? Lmao

Noah Lyles has been the world champ in the 200 in the last 3 championships and has been number 1 in the Diamond League in the 200 since 2017. That's six years of dominance.

No one knew who he was, now he’s gonna have to be a heel and he’ll eventually cry about it

A lot of people don't understand the difference between local sports teams and national sports teams.

The NBA is a professional basketball league that is made up of LOCAL basketball teams in 30 cities across North America (29 in the US and 1 in Canada). NBA teams represent their respective cities and/or regions, but NOT the country that they play in. Thus, NBA teams are NOT "World Champions". For example, the Lakers do NOT represent the entire United States; they only represent Los Angeles and the greater Los Angeles area.

Basketball teams in FIBA and the Olympics are NATIONAL teams because they represent their respective countries, and the players on those teams are solely citizens of that respective country. FIBA and Olympic teams also play against national teams from other countries. Thus, whoever wins the FIBA World Cup or Olympic basketball tournament can be considered "World Champions". Team USA in both FIBA and the Olympics represents the entire US in basketball.

Another way of looking at it is that even though the Toronto Raptors play in Toronto, most Raptors players are American. That's because the Raptors are NOT Team Canada, and Raptors players do NOT actually have to be from Toronto or Canada in general. Meanwhile, Team France, being a national team, will ONLY be made up of players who are French (meaning they are citizens of France).
