if you can't maintain a competitive edge in this country and also pay your employees a living wage, then you don't deserve to be in business imo.

there needs to be standards. the question is can the government be the ones to enforce them. one thing is for sure, if they don't... it will never get done.
Whats a living wage though?

if you're always making MW, you'll never be comfortable

well it's tough to really pin it down to a number, but if i were ruler of the world? food and rent would not be unattainable for someone working 40 hours a week.

Well at least that is in your opinion.

Why should you as an outside party get to decide what is or isnt a living wage.... if someone wants to work for $5/hr, and a company wants to pay them that much, what's the problem?

U do realize between restaurants and illegal immigrants there are plenty of people already working for much less than minimum wage. What are u so afraid of?

It is attainable, thanks to govt subsidies for housing and food assistance. Most people on MW are not starving or homeless, so by your definition it's OK.

i'm for that as long as we remove the social safety net while we're at it. can't have someone working for $5/hr and then getting govt benefits on top of that. that's how wal-mart and the like operate now. paying peanuts and the govt picks up the rest. fukk that. without a safety net then maybe people will wake up to the bullshyt.

because the current system isn't in favor of the people, it's in favor of the corporations.

and as long as the corporations are in control, they will never strive for a system that is fair for the people.
Lol, and u think a $15 minimum wage will swing that control back to the people?

How will a higher minimum wage curb corporate lobbying, or the insider trading done by Congress, or the "you scratch our back we will give u a multimillion dollar job once u are out of office" revolving door of politicians in the private sector?

Not to mention, if someone is willing to work for a certain amount of money at a certain company, how is that unfair for them? Are you saying you know what's good for everybody better than we know for ourselves? :usure:
