Ziggy was incredibly annoying which is testament to how well his character was written and the actor himself but there was nothing complex about him. He was an idiot.

Like I said, Ziggy is the same coin of Dee.

Ziggy is a conflicted young man who, is clearly smart in some fashion, who is torn between family and duty. He tries to get attention by doing idiotic acts because his father was never there for him - always working the docks. So he buys a duck and feeds it booze and everyone has a laugh and he's the center of attention and one of the boys until it dies. Because that's all Ziggy wants but never got - love and attention and admiration from his father. Meanwhile, dad was Always taking care of his men at The docks, which Zig has built up in his mind as the end all be all.

He doesn't want to work at the docks but he's trapped due to lineage and legacy, much like Dee. But unlike Dee working at the Docks brings in little money. So he tries to be hard, gets mixed in with bad folk, and pays for it - again, due to his instability and actions without thinking for attention. Ziggy is a tragic character, it just that his plight isn't as exposed or as indulged as D'angelo's. A dying legacy, where sons of established dock foremen are forced to sell drugs to make ends meet, who are forced into a dying industry without one hint of his potential elsewhere. Zig is chasing ghosts, and the ghosts are the docks, as he will NEVER be his father.

Ziggy had his issues but nothing so complex that the average person couldn't figure out what drove him. He was easy to read; wanting to be the centre of attention, jealous of his cousin being smarter and more respected, father-son relationship etc. Yeah he was a tragic character but he was a screw-up.

Same for Stringer; drug dealer who was desperate to diversify and move into respectability at any cost. What's so complex about that? :why:

I dont think Bodie was complex either, he was just the typical young dumb nikka that don't want to do shyt but run the streets

Far as Bubz I couldn't stand that nikka. Its funny you brought up the white boy getting fukked up cause thats the main reason I dont like that nikka.

IMO it was his fault the whiteboy caught the beats for sending him out there with fake money.notice he didnt do that shyt himself cause he already knew what was gonna happen if he got caught. Then after his boy got fukked up he didnt take any of the responsibility for it and instead blamed the nikkas and started snitching on them :snoop:

Then everthing after Sherod died his story just seemed forced and unbelievable....how many junkies you know dont relapse after trying to quit the first time? :stopitslime:

His character would've been better off had he died when he tried to hang himself in the interrogation room. His whole recovery is a part of what made season 5 wack IMO

I guess he is more complex then Bodie(that aint really saying much) but his character wasnt that deep to me

I don't think you paid much attention to Bubz's story, because most of this is wrong.

He only let the white boy do it because he had been begging Bubz to do so so he finally let him step up to the plate and he got fukked up for it.

He had been running game with Kima prior to where we start in the story because they had a previous relationship, that's how Kima knew to go to him.

Bubz's also tried to get clean and relapsed several times as we witnessed in the very first season and according to several accounts from his sister, who's basement he was staying in. That's why he was not allowed to come upstairs at all.

Bubz's recovery was one of the dopest parts of season 5 IMO because we got to see the numerous tries and fails he went through, the several people who's lives he messed up through it and the fact that it is possible for hope and redemption, which for most of the characters in the series never got the chance to have or squandered the opportunity they did have. He had one of the few happy endings.

I take it OP means a multi-layered character by complex

Stringer
most def. like breh said it would've been nice to know some info on how he came up, cuz he most def. wasn't no street corner nikka like Avon... He was part of a criminal organization but at the same time he was different in that he had vision and wanted to go legit, plus he was attendin' college at night... I relate a lot to him cuz I came from a rough background too but went to school and went legit....

Frank Sabotka
He was a union leader, a family man, a man with a code, but was also doin' ilegal shyt to keep money in his peoples pockets... U could tell he had a darkside to him despite the image he was tryin' to portray, u just knew he was down for whatever... His charcter shoulda been developed further....

I wanna say Michael, but I dont think his character was really complex, it just showed his transition from a good boy to a thug, n that is very common in the hood... I'd say his character is one of the most interesting ones....

I woulda like to know more about the greek... who was the man everybody ended up workin for.... The show implied he was connected to the feds, n thats how he got away cuz he was tipped by somebody from the fbi when Mculty n them went to arrest him... So he was rich n powerful but spent his days in an old coffee shop...
