Who was the greater leader, Julius Caesar or Augustus Caesar?

Do you know of any books that talk about julius being black? Or any paintings of how he really looks? Alexander the great was black as well i believe

They were different men for different eras. If I had to choose one it’d be Casear. His military accomplishments coupled with what he did politically set the stage for what Octavian/Augustus would accomplish later, and on a much more enduring scale. But it took the army Caesar had commanded in Gaul and the civil war to get Augustus thru in the beginning or he wouldn’t have made it. And another poster mentioned Agrippa, whose importance can’t be overstated.

Julius Caesar was more dynamic, but Augustus is probably the best western leader ever

As far as a military commander I would say Julius. He was a great politician also. He pretty much laid the foundation for the Empire Augustus would rule.

He subdued Gaul and many territories for Rome.

He was given 4 Triumphs. He was a great improviser in the field and pulled out many victories when he should've been defeated.

Overall Augustus was the better ruler, ruling in peace.
