Ja’s star was already dwindling during that time. Yeah he went platinum, but he was selling less and less. That Grease inspired “Mesmerize” video plus the Pac biting, and the fact that people were simply getting tired of him. 50 did some damage, but he wasn’t THE reason Ja fell off.
Ja actually got over on 50 in a fight, so nothing could be said to really top that on 50's end.
People were sour on Ja already for the constant exposure to him on the radio. 50 eventually cut himself out for the same reasons overexposing the act in all forms possible. Clothes, games, movies, and the constant radio hit chasing that really nuked his career.
Here, Kenny basically chopped up the biggest tree and turned that fan base around in a short few weeks. Had Drake playing make believe on information leaks, getting his questionable tendencies blasted on wax, and just in full defense mode by the time the last song came out. Drake went from chest puffing "not getting out of this one" and begging Kendrick to drop to crying on his way out on Part 6 and wanting to stop.

straight up, i wasn't with it then but he had some songs that really aged well. New York is legitimately one of the quintessential songs of that era. That beat drops and it still hits for real.
