who remembers the X-men game for the Sega Genesis?

i bought my genesis from a german friend,
second hand for dirt cheap, along with 20 or so games,which included x-men
i'm just trying to remember whether it was 1 or 2

This is the Xmen game where to get unlimited lives and powers you had to Unplug controller two before you power up the Genesis. Then hold A, C and Down and hit Start. This was the only way I could beat this game

I mean its been a while... but for some reason I'm thinking the danger room was like a false start to the game or something before you actually start getting into the missions
