Either Andre 3k, or Mr. West. But most likely leaning on Andre 3k

Its Kanye. I've said its Kanye for years.

Both Prince and Kanye made hits for numerous others and have classics and duds.

Andre will always be associated as a group and has no solos(Love Below dont count).

Both Prince and Kanye go into different directions musically.

What about DJ Quik?:patrice:

Naw... Quik can play multiple instruments, composes music, sometimes wears a perm, and was on the androgynous kick for a while (Rhythm a lism), but he's nowhere near prince. Prince was a trendsetter, and was really left field insofar as his music and especially his image. Quik never quite pushed the envelope as far as he could have/should have. When Quik went back to his whole street look on Balance and Options, he kind of faded back into the background.

True. But 3k has prince likeness through style, music, singing; moreso than Kanye. Andre is the one person who's just a bit more left field than Kanye, and that's saying a lot.

Kanye lacks the aesthetic, the mystique, and overall talent to draw comparisons to Prince. Kanye is an overall average rapper, great producer. He's crafted some classic albums. He doesn't play any instruments and when he songs, he relies heavily on autotune. He tries too hard to be edgy so much so that it detracts from the art rather than add to it.

Andre has the mystique, the edge, the multi-instrumentalist, and the genre hopping to match.

Quik was just on some fly shyt on Rhythm he's never done no gender bending like Prince did...And on that album he had a full band/orchestra which nobody was really doin and it was still that West Coast funk at the same time

The only two guys I can think of who come even close are D'Angelo and Andre 3000...D isn't a emcee but he gets automatic calls to play and sing on hip hop tracks and We all know what Dre is capable of if somebody somewhere can encourage him to do one more solo if we can't get 'Kast ridin again
