Didn't iverson play with Melo, Mutumbo, Iggy. Those three combined have all star appearances than any of clydes teammates ever did and all of them were in their prime except mutumbo who was still a premier shot blocker. The only perennial all stars Clyde played with was :old: hakeem and :flabbynsick: Barkley a few years before they retired.

Take him off the blazers and you basically a team full of role players.

Good argument, but Melo is Iverson, just taller, both have trouble passing the ball. Mutumbo was a great defender, but never a big offensive threat, especially not in his Philly days, and Iggy was fresh in the league when he played with ai.

With that said, as a collective, Clyde always had a better team.
Iverson was still the better player to me. I aint sayin Clyde was garbage, im comparing him to Iverson. Both are top 5 sg all time for me.

If we were asking who was a better team mate, then I got Clyde all the way.

People act as if the Philly front office chose not to get Iverson a second star, when it was really that they knew Iverson would not be able to co-exist with a second star. He had Stackhouse and ended up having fist-fights.

Iverson-stackhouse: Rocky' Relationship - New York Daily News

though I'm not saying Iverson started it, but I will say the message was sent...Iverson could not co-exist with another player who demanded the ball. Denver was a completely different situation and they didn't win shyt when he went there either.

those Nuggets teams were a mess. constant injuries (and even cancer), infighting in the FO, Karl was just waiting get fired and was like "fukk all yall, I aint coaching shyt". :bryan:.

I love Billups but give AI a version of Melo serious about his conditioning and playing D, a version of Karl serious about coaching, a healthy Nene/Kenyon and a long defensive minded goon like Dahntay Jones at the 2 (instead of Anthony fukking Carter ) and he takes Denver to the WCF too.

That's bullshyt. Rip Hamilton said he "watched AI practice everyday, and he's better than 75% of the people in the leage". This was when AI was way past it too. Several people have praised his ball handling and anticipation skills etc. Stop hating on AI for being a scorer who took a lot of shots, unless youre going to hold Kobe to the same standard.:upsetfavre:

HA!! What are anticipation skills? You mean his gambling, every time down on defense, which resulted in 5-4? Cause I've heard Barkley, Shaq, Malone, GP, Jalen, Webber, Clyde Drexler, Dr. J etc say the same thing "He's quick, tough and to be able to do the things that he does..."

I don't hate on AI for anything. He took A LOT of shots, he couldn't play with other scorers. But the ability to get off your shot at anytime is a great skill as well. As for Kobe, he's just become a true volume scorer. He's also had several of the greatest shooting displays EVER seen on a basketball court, something AI can never claim.

But AI DID have scoring help, and those were the years the team didn't succeed.

He's had Stack, Big Dog, Webber, DC, Spoon, Hughes, Jimmy Jax, Van Horn etc Philly saw early on that is wasn't gonna work, but it was Larry Brown's vision to provide a defensive minded team around him, so let him go 11-27 with 11 FTs every night. Look at when he went to Denver, Karl had Melo averaging 30ppg on 50% before the suspension. He was playing more off the ball, and catch-in-go, catch-in-shoot. So how does the next season, AI wind up being the leading scorer on Denver? It's not even your team and Melo is the better scorer of the 2.

Clyde the Glide. He had an ego like A.I. but no way did he have it derail his career like the Answer.

A.I. not having much of a team around him was HIS FAULT, not bad luck.

Drexler had a longer more productive career. Iverson was lightning in a bottle for a 3-5 year window-Drexler.
