I don’t see a backup PG among any of them,

Also with the cap going up, Hart isn’t overpaid and if IQ is around that number the same goes for him. 20 mill is the new 14 Mil. Which isn’t chump change, but a fair price for a productive roleplayer.
Because he’s not a point guard, he’s just filling a position of need and excelling at it.

Cap only raised 10%
You must be talking about the tv deal but still a few years before that happens.

Remember the Knicks have great contracts (minus Fournier) they spend wisely.
20m for a backup pg isn’t smart when Brunson and Randle re-up in 2 years

Adding Josh Hart deal the Knicks contracts for 2024

Julius Randle: 30 million
RJ Barrett: 25 million
Jalen Brunson: 24 million
Josh Hart: 18 million
Mitchell Robinson: 14 million
Donte: 12 million
Grimes: 4 million
Deuce: 3 million
Sims: 2 million

This doesn’t include Immanuel Quickley who will probably be in that 18-20 million range

Without Quick they aren’t even over the projected cap.

You can’t predict two years from now. Lock Quick up, the cap is raising 10% every year for the next 7 years, it’s smarter to get Quick under contract now.

I completely agree, I also believe that while he is a backup 1 he is the best 2 guard on our roster

fukk all the bickering. I’m perfectly content rooting for this exact roster next year. It’s gonna be better than last years team just off the strength that everyone’s young, at or below their peak and will improve. Plus we have continuity up and down the organization, one of the real keys to success in this league. All we really need to do is get Fournier traded for a TPE and we’re good.

He is a PG and if you don’t think he is you have a dated, reductionist view of the position. :manny:

At some point I think Brunson might get a nagging injury with his physical playstyle and the extra load he’s taken on with FIBA.

Quick will be crucial.
