Serious question - when is the appropriate time for a fan base or an organization to start questioning a coach and their ability?

When they are under performing and not matching expectations.

Knicks damn near won 50 games and won a playoff round. After being projected to not make the playoffs or win 40 games. Why would thibs get fired?

Now, if they miss the playoffs next year, he's getting chopped.

The man has done absolutely nothing to be fired.

Even if we were to miss the playoffs other factors need to be considered before the coach is fired such as did injuries play a role or did individual players severely underperform (ex. Randle reverting to his ‘22 season version).

I think that's fair.

Why would you fire him next year if they don't make the playoffs?

Serious question - when is the appropriate time for a fan base or an organization to start questioning a coach and their ability?

Since Thibs criticisms is all generic bytching and cliches that can be applied to any head coach to the homie @ISO, there's a whole Reddit thread is dedicated to question Malone as a coach, who's been coaching the Nuggets since 2016, and Ty Lue thinks good coaches are just being fired left and right for simple mkstakes, what point is it actually fair to assess or compare previous experiences/behavior and question someone's ability to succeed without it just being mindless complaining? Without it being management scapegoating the coach?
Coaches can be fired under these circumstances…

1. A team has peaked and now wants to rebuild entirely.
2. A coach is a locker room cancer or has lost the locker room entirely.
3. A coach is involved in an off the court scandal.
4. The team is underachieving despite a high talent level and minimal injuries to the roster. But even here individual players need to be looked at with a critical lens as does roster constructions yeah these guys are talented but do they fit.
5. The relationship between the coach and the front office has run its course and disagreements are plentiful.

Thibs has done nothing to be fired.

We all agree Spoelstra is the best coach in the league and he hasn’t won a title since Lebron left. Roster >>>>> coaching. If Frank Vogel can win a ship, so can Thibs.
Based on fans Spoelstra and Malone could have been fired long ago.

You can only salute their front offices for building a culture and having the upmost confidence in their coaches and building rosters instead of listening to doofus fans who don’t really know shyt about ball.

lmao Spolestra just took an 8th seed to da finals, its not just about championshps..Clearly he is getting the most out of his team, and is very good at adjusting his game plan when there are injuries and other shyt going on with the team.

yes a roster is more important than coaching to a certain degree, but ultimately you need both. Lebron makes every coach look successful, so that vogel aint a good example

When it’s clear that the team has tuned the coach out. When they’re clearly underperforming their talent. The Knicks have over performed their talent under Thibs twice now. The year we missed the playoffs is probably the most accurate year we’ve had talent wise.

And Thibs took a “non playoff roster” to the 5 seed, the second round and a tough game 6 loss to the eventual ECF Champs.

The Vogel comparison is to point out that players win ships. How many would Thibs had he coached Lebron? Or Giannis like Bud? Or Kawhi like Pop and Nurse?

i never saw us as a non playoff roster. Could care less what the "experts" say cause they are haters.
We were a 4th seed 2 years ago
Last year we shyt the bed, and some of that had to do with coaching and thibs being stubborn as fukk.
This year we bounced back, and we need to continue to build off that.

If we are gonna bring in the talent level of a prime lebron, prime giannis etc, sure we have a chance to win with thibs but that unrealistic. I highly doubt someone like lebron would even wanna play for thibs in da first place lol he certainly wouldnt be going into his 21st season if he did

Vogel is a good coach he did good work in Indiana.

Thibs is clearly getting the most out his teams himself at every destination so I don’t know what your point is.

Spoelstra has an unlimited leash. U are not a Heat fan so you wouldn’t know. Him still being there after all these years is a miracle.

Bro Thibs had the Bulls as a great team without Rose

50-16 in ‘12…Rose played less than 40 games
45-37 in ‘13…no D-Rose
48-34 in ‘14…Noah was in the damn MVP race

If anyone knows how to squeeze the most out a roster it’s Thibs

LeBron has the utmost respect for Thibs :mjlol:

He’s one of the most respected coaches in the damn association…

He already played under him on Team USA…
