J- Lo = Dirk Nowitzki.
A master at the inside/outside. Nobody thought they would be as successful as they were.
Really only got to the Promised Land when they got some hitters around them.

Dirk was great at his craft though, J-Lo was not.

Nah, Bruh...Aaliyah wasn't "next in line" - she was in a whole different line than Whitney.
So just like the Knicks, she was playing a whole different style than "Jordan".

And when she hit, other acts was trying to jock that (as you call it) "laid-back, non-diva" style...
...which wasn't nothing but a more chill TLC vibe. Just like the 90s Knicks was a less-intense version of the Bad Boys.

I agree Aaliyah and Whitney were in two different lanes. Aaliyah was more of a singer dancer performer , ala Janet Jackson. Whitney was a vocalist,.
Yet when I said next in line, I meant one of the generations after. The Knicks and Jordan were contemporaries. Aaliyah was a rookie in the game when Whitney was putting up 25 a game. And by the time Aaliyah started putting up her 25, Whitney was icon status.

I agree with the TLC Aaliyah Comparison. AAliyah's image was inspired by them.
Yet When TLC first came out they were colorful, goofy, cool, kids... When AAliyah came out her music was dark and mysterious. everyone thought she was 20, 21. She sung like an adult, and dressed like one. Alotta ppl were shock, and confused to find out she was a 14 year/15 year old girl. TLC would mature their work up after Age Ain't Nothing But A Number.
This is good logic, but Brandy wasn't putting up Kobe level numbers.

The way I envisioned it,

Brandy & Monica = Stockton & Malone

Hear me out...they both had seasons where they were legit MVP candidates, and they fed off of each other.
Their biggest triumph was standing side-by-side.

:russ:

The Boys is Mine Was A HUUUUUUUUUUGE hit. yet Brandy and Monica both had big hits, and multi PLATNUIM albums before and after that song. Also Malone and Stockton got along with one another, played 19 years together. Whereas Brandy and Monica still don't get along till this day...

Not bad...imo, I saw

Clyde Drexler or Mitch Richmond = Angela Winbush.

Both spent most of their careers toiling underrated on the West Coast, but in time got down with a dope team and has most of their notoriety as a contributor.
I agree . BUTTT Clyde toiling??:usure::usure::usure::usure: Clyde took the Blazers to 2 finals and numerous western conference finals...

Also although Angela had HUGE success as a writer and producer. When u go through her catalog with Rene And As a solo act she had hitssss. Wouldn't call her a toiler.

Gwen dikkey (of Rose Royce) equals Jamaal Wilkes. Underappreciated greatness. the collective overshadows them
Patti Labelle equals Dominique Wilkins. Stellar talents, nothing like them. One of one

Yes, "toiling"...he had to put in major work.
Toiling Naw. Toiling is McGrady on the Magics carrying A Team full of scrubs around 500. to the playoffs only to be knocked out the 1st round every year. Clyde went to numerous finals and western conferences with the Blazers, his team had success but could never closed the deal.
Same way Angela had platinum and gold singles/albums in the 80's. she also produce and wrote platinum songs for others... She had success in the industry not mega success but she had success none the less.
