What is not addressed in this thread is that "white people" in general don't care about old hip hop, or "real" hip hop, whatever that is. There are a few of us though that do love the culture, and connect more with the older music because it seemed that it was more fun and different than the times we live in. So, these white people are fans.

Most black people are born and almost by default apart of this culture of hip hop, so they could range from so many niche interest in hip hop. I think most black fans like the gucci, waka, ross stuff.... But white people like the fluffy pop stuff just as well.... i think t/s perception of most white fans that like music all like the old school stuff is b/s, its only fans of the culture that are this way, and thats a real small percentage....

And some of those fans are even pseudo fans that go through a faze and end up ditching hip hop after college

Spinoff of the other thread.
But since nikkas wanna be in denial, i wanna see yalls reasoning as to how the white hip hop head doesnt care and appreciate classic hip hop more than the average black head.
Its black people supporting wack ass shyt like oj da juiceman, plies, slim dunkin :gag:

White people stay showing love to old legends, as well as new up and coming rappers with talent such as Kdot, hopsin etc..

Explain ya selfs:sitdown:

Tell me that's not an actual rapper.

white ppl have more TIME to care about shyt (hip hop notwithstanding) since they have more money and less shyt to worry about like bills and feeding their kids, etc...that's why philanthropist type whites tend to be from well-to-do families or are well-to-do themselves...poor ppl (who tend to be black and brown) don't have time or the resources to "care" more because they're more concerned with basic survival in a lot of cases...

...but that's just how I see it.

As for white ppl who are really into hip hop...a lot of them are VERY knowledgable about the music itself and the artists, but still don't really "get it" in terms of understanding what the music really MEANS to the people who made it and the demographic it was made for. To them, it just sounds good and is about "real issues."

Seems like they appreciate the culture alot more n when I say culture I mean all aspects of the 5 elements. Google any bboy championship or graffitti comp and most of them cats are white. That right there is part of the essence of hip hop but black and brown kids dont dominate it like they anymore although we responsible for starting it. There is a disconnect between culture and music when it comes to black vs white appreciation but some of that has to do with regional and age difference but still....

I won't say white people care more.. But it is sad to see black people disregard artist who try to bring something to the table rather than artists saying the same ol shyt over and over again over hot beats.

When we look back to this generation people will remember Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Nicki Manaj, Waka Flocka, Gucci, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa

But then will overlook Lupe, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Big KRIT

they will be overlooked because theyre corny. wiz is a white people rapper too. nicki and big sean arent from it either. and white people are kind of carrying wayne at this point. the only real hood guys you mentioned were ross, waka and gucci. and do we really like waka? no. just his beats.

But that's about perception too... J.Cole ain't bringin' shyt new to the table, he's really no different from Big Sean when it comes to nondescript rappers whose sound is directly derivative of their favorite rappers. Only difference being Big Sean has had some big radio/club hits and J.Cole has failed at his attempts to make radio/club hits.

And honestly, I tend to feel at times that white people sometimes HAVE to embrace what's seen as the "real shyt", cause that's their only recourse. A lot of them didn't grow up with hip-hop, probably had their parents trying to deter them from it if anything, and they found a certain fascination with it. It's more imperative for them to cling to "the culture" because it's something they had to immerse themselves in, not something they naturally grew up in. I know white people who grew up in the burbs, and they've found it just as easy to hop out of hip-hop just like they hopped in it, as soon as it stopped being "cool" or it wasn't what they wanted it to be anymore. For us, it's kinda different if we grew up in the inner city or predominantly black areas, cause we didn't have that option. It was the sound of our neighborhoods, of our families, of our friends... not just some shyt we watched on TV at 4:00. That's why a 35 year old white guy will never understand why an 18 year old black kid likes 2 Chainz... not because he's some supreme artistic genius of a rapper, but because he's making the music that this generation is into. It's not for the 35 year old white guy to understand, especially not while he's hated hip-hop for the last 15 years and still listens to the GZA regularly.

2chainz is 36. hes not making music for his generation. but i agree with the rest of this.

I'm sorry, but growing up in NY, those elements people talk about was what me and my kids called "waking up everyday." We weren't "trying" to be hip hop. We just were...and niqqas moved on. Crack came...other shyt came to play and niqqas stopped b-boying.

The same niqqa I knew leaving Brooklyn who said "I'm going uptown" that did so to learn breakdancing moves in 84 was the same niqqa that said "I'm going uptown" to get some crack to sell in 85. That's REAL NIQQA shyt. That's HIP HOP.

I'm tired of these forcing it niqqas acting as if the 5 elements is a must. We moved the fukk on. Them niqqas are just wearing costumes.

The replies in this thread is a huge example of what's wrong!

Black people throwing out excuses for their ignorance.

We had a cash cow and a legacy but we gave it away like we do so many other inventions of ours. The cacs came along and scooped it right up like, "Thanks homey, lemme make some bread off this LONG TERM since you're too stupid to know how!"

Cacs are about to make hip hop theirs and nikkas gonna act like they don't care, then 30 years later be crying that crackas stole it from us.

We don't check ourselves! We make excuses for loving ignorance! We make excuses for dumb ass Jerome who dropped out of school and only knows about Wakka when it comes to rap. We excuse the cool, but dumb as bird shyt nikkas in our hoods who said they couldn't rock with Kast or Wu cause they use "big words" and "talk about stars and kung fu". We gave them nikkas a pass and they done took hip hop over. Made it into a fukkin monkey show! You know its a monkey show cause you can't listen to it round civilized cacs unless you feel like being ignorant.

Then you got these nikkas talking bout, "I like what I like". Ask them nikkas what they like about what they like then. They can't tell you or are too ashamed to say they like the ignorance. Some will get brave and "fukkit, I like ignorance, I don't like thinking...". nikka what the fukk you just said?!

I believe it was RZA who said years ago that hip hop fukkin up cause nikkas are glorifying their stupidity or something like that. The nikka is actually right. I won't be surprised if someone makes a song bout how dumb they are on some "I'm dumb and I know it clap ya hands...ayyyeeeee!" And nikkas will eat that shyt up then make the excuse that its just entertainment. For a while nikkas killed that, "If I wonna learn something I'll read a book". Bullshyt nikka you aint reading no damn books or you could only stomach so much of that bs you call good music!

I listen to the ignorance too, but I call it what it is, and will never say I can't get into knowledge rap.

The shame is nikkas on this board supposed to be setting the example for the dumb nikkas to follow!

No idea what "the other thread" is. Didn't read past the first post. No offense to white people, but they have to actually try to be a part of hip hop culture. Hip hop is synonymous with black culture. We just grow up with it. We have the luxury of going back and learning about the past. White people that try and assimilate into the culture usually get looked at with the :shaq2: face. So they do their homework to try and seem like they know their shyt and belong. Only exceptions are Rick Rubin types that were there in the early days.

Hip hip culture at any time is dictated by the black youth of that era. It's not a conscious action.

Edit:

Read the replies and DANJ! and NYC Rebel hit the points I was trying to make.
