Books like that get published a dime a dozen. Come on, son, the world of "tell-all" publishing, in which this is included, relies specifically on lower standards because sensationalism sells. If you look at the book, you'll notice it's filled with gossip like who slept with who, etc, and which are not really possible to verify.

but this isnt the world of tell all, its the world of investigative journalism and you can see he's written books on the FBI and CIA, i think you are confused about what type of book this is

The onus is on me for questioning gossip (well, it's not even gossip since, like I said, it's not widely repeated in other sources.) Ok. If your standards for truth are that low, or are that dispensable when you see a quote that fits your agenda, then don't expect to be taken very seriously.

slow down buddy, i never accused you or anybody of denying liberal racism, i said its silly to challenge a quote from a legit author and a quote that is consistent with how johnson was known to talk, that quote is not weak or unsubstantiated or reaching, its a totally legit quote from a legit publisher and legit author that i presume to be correct

They aren't the "most racist", but I definitely don't have preconceived opinions about a liberal white persons ability to be racist versus a conservative. I think they both equally have the ability and display it often... I take a wait and see approach with most people regardless of political affiliation...

THe bolded is a conservative canard that suggests that blacks are so low and slovenly, that we would rather live like pigs on welfare, rather than show collective industriousness, and work ethic. It conveniently dismisses racism as a social and economic barrier, (and things like the prison industrial complex) and indicts the collective black nature, and the racist interpretation of it.

the black family went through reconstruction, the great depression, WW2 and the civil rights movement intact...through poverty and strife until lyndon Johnsons great society gave women perverse incentives to throw out their men..white women didnt warm up to it but ours did and here we are...

Economically, its a complete lie. The great society programs cut the black poverty rate in half in a decades time. In conjunction with that, the black unemployment rate was 5% higher than whites in the early 70s, directly following the LBJ admin. Black unemployment and poverty exploded under Reagan.

My grandfather used to say that he considered the silent/covert racist who undermined blacks was always a worse character than the overt racist that called him a ****** to his face and this was from a guy who saw his brother lynched and was shot twice himself by racist white people. Maybe that is where Carson is coming from with his opinion, especially as a conservative.

And your grandfather has a valid point, I just don't think Carson's comment compliments it. Covert racist and white liberal racist are not synonymous. In fact, I'd say most covert racists lean right today.

Your grandfather lived in a time of overt Strom Thurmond racism. You don't see that much today outside of st0rmfr0nt, youtube, and other websites that substitute for white sheets. A perfect example of a covert racist would be ironically the man largely responsible for Carson's recent media exposure, Sean Hannity. He would never admit he has a racist bone in his body and would respond in anger and outrage if he was accused of it. But Hal Turner, reputed white supremacist who was friends with him before he blew up and had to distance himself from, said Hannity shares many of his views in private and he knows because he told him.

So we can discuss white liberal paternalism toward blacks or closet racist white liberals. But by sitting there and saying white liberals are the BIGGEST racists, which is ahistorical and dubious (I'm being nice by saying dubious) while talking to a racist whose ilk represent the vestiges of Jim Crow, and who offers up a plate of sensationalized centuries old race-based fear red meat for his audience on national tv every night while saying nothing about that and allowing himself to be used as a tool in that purpose, he has no credibility.

Understand that Carson and West, etc. are tokens for the right. Nothing more. They'd throw them under a moving bus as fast as they could.. They are only given a voice now because 90% of us voted for in 2012.

They are there so the Rush's of the world can say "SEE! WE LIKE BLACK PEOPLE!" ... it's all a game. Notice how they are pimping latino voices now as well? I wonder why.. could it have something to do with losing the latino vote 70/30 in the last election?

Are you not looking at the same graph that I am? In the late 1950s, the number of Blacks in poverty was over 40 million. By the early 70s, directly following LBJ's great society programs, that number was reduced to under 25 million. Thats a significant bit of economic phenomenon in such a short amount of time, especially when you consider that there were far fewer black people in the 1950s, yet there were 40 million in poverty when as you say "the black family was intact". In addition, these numbers are controlled for recessions, and as you see poverty shot up during the Reagan admin, when his policies began to take hold.

And all you have to do is follow your rhetoric through to see how racist it is. Again welfare gives women and blacks "perverse incentive to throw their men out"...Do you realize how ridiculous that is in theory? Black mothers would rather live on the margins thru the subsistence of welfare, than have a healthy happy, prosperous family? Are black people animals? Welfare is an effect, its not a cause my man.

Well excuse me for caring whether a doctor believes in objective reality over fantasy. All objective scientific evidence tells us the earth is over 6000 years. The fact he's willing to look past all of that because of claims made a book written 2000 years ago by bronze age peasants is disturbing.

If he's willing to believe that then what else is he gonna believe. Maybe he won't follow treatment proven to be scientifically viable in favor of praying or some other religious crap.
