Shyyyyyt partner (shoutout to Clay Davis) I think they all make choices stepped in character. Everything Nick and Amy do in the last half of the movie completely line up with the narrative. But I've explained that in the thread already and this clearly isn't the right place for that discussion :salute:

Yeah I read your posts and also @TheGodling and I'm kinda with him on many points. But I look forward to your thoughts on Whiplash, now stop posting and start watching.

So the one thing this film seems really focused on is how much are you willing to lose in order to achieve greatness? How much of yourself physically and emotionally are you willing to give up to be the best or just to get a nod of approval and it's a very good and tense exploration of that. JK Simmons is a compelling villain as the best villains should be, and Miles Teller is excellent. The one minor issue I have with the movie is that it isn't always clear on how much time has passed between certain major events but that never stopped me from being invested in the story and getting the emotion of each scene even without it being spelled out for me. Very dope movie

Also 4-5 mins of that running time is the credit list

The dad letting him perform didn't annoy me because Andrew is 19 years old and lives alone. Wasn't really in a position to stop him. I felt he came to watch both out of pride and fear of his son going mental while playing with Fletcher. And he does rush backstage when he sees what Fletcher does and hugs Andrew backstage.

Yup.

Because by putting a little more attention into the relationships, it would emphasize everything you bolded in Marty's post. The movie never really shows exactly how far he pushes everyone away because we barely see them. We don't know how his relationship with the rest of his family was, so when he shyts on everyone during dinner, we have no idea how much of that argument stems from what he's been going through. @StraxStrax and me both obviously like the movie, but we both also realize that it could've been even better if the relationships were more expanded upon.
