Also 4-5 mins of that running time is the credit list

The dad letting him perform didn't annoy me because Andrew is 19 years old and lives alone. Wasn't really in a position to stop him. I felt he came to watch both out of pride and fear of his son going mental while playing with Fletcher. And he does rush backstage when he sees what Fletcher does and hugs Andrew backstage.

I really enjoyed it.

definitely looking forward to more from chazelle.

I hope he doesn't keep doing the same stuff. He's done two films and both are about modern jazz

Gotta be honest about this one - it's a good movie... but i haven't thought about it at all. that's not necessarily a knock to the movie...

granted, i watched it yesterday, but normally after i watch a movie - any movie - i run to imdb or thecoli or other sites to read about it. i like to see discussions from people on message boards, trivia about the making of the film, etc. didn't do that at all with this one. don't think it's gonna stick with me at all.

I was going to mention that. I wonder if he is going to keep the music theme going . granted he only wrote grand piano.

95% of people who saw this movie liked it yet all you nerds are complaining :manny:

Like I said; I really really like it. It's a top 5 movie for me this year. It's a good story with good characters and great acting that could've been a great movie with 1-2 extra scenes. I don't think I'm selling it short or complaining but giving it a fair criticism. Sometimes the most frustrating movies are the ones who are really good and so close to greatness and for me Whiplash and Gone Girl fall into that category of 2014 movies.

Jesus. What a fukking movie. That part where Fletcher kept getting at Andrew for his tempo had my fukking heart beating like crazy. shyt was intense. The whole movie was intense. Just insane.

Never seen Miles Teller before, but man, that dude rocked this shyt.

The relationship between Andrew and Fletcher is sick and yet without Fletcher, I dont think Andrew would have achieved the greatness he displayed at the end. How fukked up is that?

Fletcher is one of my most hated characters ever. Psycho.

I think he said in the thread that it should've lost a half hour. I disagree

About Gone Girl

Maybe I worded it in a strange way. What I meant is that the last half hour isn't on the same lvl as the rest of the movie. I think some characters make choices and actions in that last half hour don't make sense in the context of the movie.

It's the right length tho.

Shyyyyyt partner (shoutout to Clay Davis) I think they all make choices stepped in character. Everything Nick and Amy do in the last half of the movie completely line up with the narrative. But I've explained that in the thread already and this clearly isn't the right place for that discussion :salute:
